Stadia controller not working

So My best friend just got me a stadia for Christmas after he realized he loved his. Well it came in today and I’ve got everything setup except for the fact my controller refuses to work.

Ive had it plugged in for over an hour in total, it won’t vibrate when you try to turn it on normally, the light doesn’t come on when charging, I’ve tried pressing and holding the assistant and capture buttons down simultaneously for atleast 6 seconds. I’ve tried holding down y and the power button for at least 12 seconds as well.

I’ve tried using a different cord as well and that didn’t work either. Im pretty much at a loss right now and I’m starting to think it’s a brick. I just got it today and opened it as soon as I got home, because I’ve been so excited to play with him, and I can’t do anything because my controller won’t turn on at all, therefore I’m not able to Bluetooth it either. I’m very frustrated now just trying to figure out what to do
