Thanks @ViviFFIX never thought that it might be the way my ISP is routing traffic. I don't think it's a capacity issue as I can stream 2 x stadia at the same time on the CCU with no issues with 1x4k and 1x full HD.

Tried this morning had one of the worse sessions I've ever had I couldn't see anything it was so fuzzy then exited and restarted and played destiny 2 for a couple of hours with zero issues.

I really hope the problem just goes away, in the same way it appeared.

Played around with Geforce now too and had no issues with that on my PC.

There are so many variables on PCs!

Sorry! I meant rebooting the laptop fixed the issues there. However playing on my PC is still inconsistent.

For example I started playing this morning, it kept going blurry and pixelated, stadia + network monitoring shows there was no packet loss.

I exited the game and launched it again and played for an hour with no issues, not a single dropped frame, exited and relaunched again to test it and it was back to being blurry, I repeated that and then it worked fine again.

It feels like It's hit and miss on if I get a stable game or not.

I managed to find some performance monitoring tools on my PC and I can see every time it goes blurry there is a huge drop in network traffic, it usually sits around 45Mbps and plummets for a couple of seconds then shoots back up.

Yeah I'm a pro subscriber and have tried lowering the quality to 1080, it's the same blurry mess.

I been doing some troubleshooting with stadia on twitter and now I've filled a form in for more support. What I have noticed is my partners laptop is the same, it has been a while since they used their laptop for stadia as they always use the CCU and it's just as unstable, wired or wifi, both the same.

*Edit* my partner pointed out they never shut down their laptop so after a reboot it worked perfectly.

I really don't think its a network issue as everything else is fine. Clearly there is something on stadia or within my own network that does not like me playing on chrome. My friends in Spain has the same issues when Stadia first came out they could play on CCU but not their PC, it's so weird.

Opening ports didn't help, but to be honest I'm uneasy about doing that for security reasons.

I've tried canary and Edge, no extensions at all and tried incognito mode too!

I just don't know what else to try, especially as I've always had such a good service from Stadia on my PC.

I just can't work it out, nothing in my network has changed or on my PC. However, the last few weeks stadia has become unplayable, I just can't work out what is wrong. It works perfectly fine in 4K on my CCU. I have a 500Mbps connection.

I have a Nvidia 1660 super with VP9 decoding and have been enjoying stadia in 4k on chrome for months just fine, now it's just a pixilated mess. I often get told that I can't even launch a game because my connection isn't good enough.

I've tried all the troubleshooting on stadia support page and have a wired network, I couldn't work out the opening ports part of my firewall so I just turned it off completely to test, it didn't help.

Everything else works fine on my PC too, I can download games at a constant speed, I even did a clean install of windows!

Something somewhere on my PC must have updated but I just can't find it!

Anyone got any suggestions?

Sideloading works fine now, I used to find it super buggy but the latest add is really stable.

I can see the difference in quality though. I think it basically runs the mobile app which doesn't support 4k (as far as I'm aware)

Thanks @RXShorty , I thought that would be the case, it's very confusing that it list HDR in connection status in chrome, albeit it states not supported by device when in reality it's not supported in chrome at all.

Thanks! Deleting cookies helped me when it says I'm using an unsupported device.

I do find it weird it can take a min or 2 to actually 'buffer' up to 4k citing network issues but once it's there it never falters, it's a bit odd but I can live with it.

Is HDR in chrome supported or not?

I can't seem to find an actual answer to this.

When I look at stadia's support page it does not list HDR as being compatible in chrome, but there are articles from earlier this year saying HDR is now supported. Also since the new UI it lists HDR under connection but says my equipment is not supported but I do have a 4k HDR monitor and HDR turned on in windows. HDR works automatically in Youtube etc. However, in Stadia games look horrible with it turned on in dark areas, I think its called banding?

Is there a setting I'm missing or is it just not actually supported? I have a Nvidia 1660 Super if that has anything to do with it?

Yeah it was between that and the 1660 Super but I just didn't think the extras £65 was worth it given that the 1650S is a slightly better GPU than my current one and I really do doubt I'll be buying PC games going forward

So I'm thinking about something like this as it doesn't seem that anyone is selling the 1060.

That way I can improve what I have without breaking the bank and just not bother with a new CPU, which I had budgeted around £500.

That suggestion is a very nice budget friendly option, I could then upgrade my CPU in a year or so as it's actually fine.

I don't know if you'd know but how does the 1060 or even 1030 compare to my current card? I wouldn't really want to downgrade what I have, just so I can play the PC games I currently have. So I'd rather spend a little more than downgrade, if you know what I mean?

Saying that it looks like availability is troublesome for those cards too!

I recently upgraded my monitor to a 4k one. However my PC is a little long in the tooth when it comes to specs and VP9 support. It can play 4k 60 but after a few mins it starts to get very stuttery and CPU usage reaches 100%. On 1080p it's super smooth but lacks the higher resolution.

I'm totally out of touch when it comes to PC tech now. I know my current PC's CPU decodes VP9 through software as my GPU does not support hardware decoding.

I've been wanting to upgrade my CPU for a while and probably going to go for the new Ryzen 5 5600X which I know is a really good processor, when I can get my hands on it that is!

However for smooth 4k 60 would I be better upgrading my GPU instead? Or will the Ryzen be fine? Is it hardware or software decoding on CPUs these days? Does it matter?

Current specs

GPU Radeon RX 480

CPU Intel i5-6600

Any help would be appreciated

I've given up on having the Nest Wifi as my primary point, everything seems to be working fine with the original google wifi as the primary point. I even get better speeds when I test my connection!

I'm quite disappointed in the newer Nest Wifi, it does have better wifi speeds but the wired stuff seems to be a downgrade.

For a while I've noticed stadia is rather stuttery on CCU. I upgraded today from a 45Mbps connection to a 300Mbps connection. The stutter remains. To cut a long story short, it only happens when using the New Nest Wifi router is the primary point. If I use my old google wifi, no issues, I can stream 2 instances of stadia and 4k flawlessly. If I use my ISP supplied router, also fine. As soon as I use Google Nest Router as my primary point, stadia become unplayable.

My CCUs are wired so I just don't understand what's going on. I don't seem to have any issues with any other service or downloads. I've tried gaming preferred on and off, there is no difference. I also use a switch, which some say helped, but hasn't worked for me.

I spoke to nest wifi support who were nice but seemed to think it was a stadia issue, and transferred me to stadia support, who I have to say were dire and after 45 min, I'm not even sure they understood my issue or even seemed to want to understand and just kept talking about the controller being on wifi and that was causing all my problems because it's a mesh network...

Yep this should be a thing by now. Buy a game on a disk or even digital on other consoles and you all get to share it, not at the same time, which I'd be fine with. Also a family pro sub would be good, like what they do with YouTube Music.

For me it comes down to the complete lack of comms from Stadia, no updates, no roadmap, nothing. But given the early 2020 date has been a long gone, it doesn't surprise me they don't like to give time frames if they can't keep to them.

Same for me, I think it might just be the way it is for now, unless someone can clarify?

I do get audio when I plug my headphones directly into my phone, but as I have to use a USB adapter, I can't charge at the same time, unless I use bluetooth, but then there is a noticeable lag in the sound.

@Chufu thanks, the only problem is, I'd want it in English and they want it in Spanish, so we'd have to keep switching. Hopefully they will improve things for bilingual households.
