Translation: Everything you see when playing stadia is part of the game, and not part of any OS of sorts, while the game logic runs on top of linux.

Well PS2 devs had complete access to Hardware, and they could do all kinds of awesome stuff with them. Also, every game console up to Super Nintendo had their games written down to the metal with assembly in order to maximize the hardware power. Could stadia devs do the same?

Requiring Developers to use libraries could hamper the ability to effectively utilize the hardware. By allowing direct access to stadia hardware ensures that developers could utilize stadia at its fullest while allowing the devs to develop stadia using their preferred method.

I think that stadia should be made up of many identical modules, that each run a single game instance, games will have complete access to the hardware. Stadia modules only start or stop running games when the master module requests them to switch. Running on bare metal ensures the highest performance on stadia hardware.

When stadia servers are running games, do the games run on top of an OS, or do they run directly on the hardware. Running on Bare Metal means that games can take full advantage of stadia hardware.
