Xbox controller bluetooth not connecting

I have just bought an official xbox one controller to connect to my acer chromebook so I can play on stadia. It says it's connected on bluetooth then not then it is then it's not. The light never stops flashing and stadia does not respond when I press any buttons. Can anyone help please?

Can anyone help me? I have an Acer Spin 311 R721T AMD A4-9120C 4GB 32GB eMMC 11.6 Inch and have installed stadia which works perfectly well. I have bought a new Xbox one powera controller but it won’t turn on when I plug the usb cable in and hold the Xbox button. I’ve tried the combination suggested on stadia to link the controller, but nothing happens. I installed Linux which registers the presence of the controller, but it still won’t turn on or link when I try stadia through Linux. I also tried a budget PlayStation imitation, which does turn on, but still won’t link to stadia. Please help! I don’t want to buy any more controllers unnecessarily!

Someone suggested this

"This may seem like an odd one, but are you using any extensions on Chrome? These can cause issues like this even if they're completely unrelated to Stadia (see this example). Try turning off all extensions and then connecting the controller again."

But it did not work. Does anyone else have any ideas? I'm sick of playing with a mouse! And am thinking of complaining formally to Stadia. It says that Xbox one controllers work!
