Stadia App on LG Smart TV (OLED55CX9LA) black screen

Hi,

I tried the native Stadia app on my LG TV (OLED55CX9LA, latest firmware installed) today with the following result:

Login worked,
connecting a Stadia controller worked,
chosing a game worked.

Right after Stadias own animated start screen of the game, my screen turns entirely black and stays black. I can hear the sound of the game after some time, but no image. I can use the Stadia menu and can leave the game via the long press Stadia button menu.

Can someone suggest a solution? I have already tried to disable HDR and 4k resolution, but the behavior stays the same.

I'm using Stadia with no issues on my CCU, but would really like to run it on the TV. The CCU is only connected to play Stadia games on the bigger screen.

Hi @Cazcy

I am afraid Stadia offers gaming in the following resolutions:

720p - 1280x720
1080p - 1920x1080
4K - 4096x2160

And your iphone has a resolution of 2532x1170.

So your phone has a different aspect ratio which is the reason your screen has black borders. The only way to get around this zooming the image but you will lose screen estate.

I am afraid there is no solution currently, but please be sure to share your feedback within the Stadia app.

In Risk of Rain 2, after inviting a friend the screen stays black for he host while the participant gets a bugged character selection screen:

Neither invite nor quick play works.

Single player works sometimes? At least after restarting the game it works but after leaving the buggy character screen it loads endlessly with a black screen as well.

How can I download stadia on iPad 9.3.5 without App Store or updating it.

i heard u.can update ipas 9.3.5 to 12 but it's not updateable soooooooo I can get it from another iPad from purchased it no work I want to do it with out App Store I wanna play stadia on it pls tell me

I've already done the 'in-game' brightness. It's as high as it will go and it's still not helping.

The Initial load gives a test screen to 'adjust the brightness until you can barely see the creature' and I took those instructions way too literally. So, I am looking for a way to reset that feature to not be 'near black'.

Everspace on Stadia failed to launch

Hi Stadia Community,

My Everspace failed to launch. the game stuck at the first black loading screen forever.

I have done the following steps but to no avail.

Clear cache from broswer,
Tried multiple broswer: chrome, edge, firefox.
Tried multiple PC
Tried different types of devices: android phone, Stadia on chrome cast, ipad, android tablet.

At this point I am pretty sure this is with the server. Please help.

I am experiencing a similar issue. When I launch Mortal Kombat 11 on my Mi Box 3, I also only see a black screen but I do hear the game. The game launches fine on my NVidia Shield device.

Hi @Yass91 Galaxy A7 is one of the devices that's officially supported on Stadia, so you should be able to launch games. Can we try to gather a bit more info?

Which Android version are you running on your tablet? Have you updated to the latest version?
Which version of Stadia app do you have right now? If you go to the app store, do you see an option to update?
You said you can't launch any game, which games have you tried so far? Did you try every games that you currently own (or part of Stadia Pro if you're subscribed?)
What's the behaviour when you launch Stadia? Just black screen or something else?
Have you made sure you have good internet connectivity? Can you try switching network and see if you're still having issue?
Are you able to launch game from a computer browser, or if you have it, on TV using Chromecast Ultra or Chromecast for Google TV device?

We can try to troubleshoot further once we can identify the root cause. You can also check out the steps described in the following article for some troubleshooting ideas:

Immortals Fenyx Rising freezing

I've been playing through Immortal Fenyx Rising DLCs for the past few weeks. The past two days I've been trying to play the Lost gods expansion and it will freeze up completely. I can't even get off the first island without this happening. I have to exit Stadia wait 15 minutes for the session to time out to go try again. If you go back in before the session times out the game usually just takes you to a black screen.

I use my Chromecast with GoogleTV and a Stadia controller. I've played over 100 hours in other titles without issue.

In my area Stadia plays perfectly and I hope to see things grow.

I am responding in English because I don't know how to write or speak French.

There is no possibility to get rid of the black borders because your phone probably has a different resolution. Stadia streams the game in a 720p, 1080p or 4k format. All of them have a 16:9 aspect ratio. The only way now to fill your screen would be to zoom in the content but you will miss some edges. Right now that isn't possible to do.

You can always ask for this new feature by using the Feedback option within the Stadia app or stadia.com.

Samsung S22 Ultra support

When will the Samsung S22 Ultra support by the Stadia app? I cannot play any of the games on my new phone. Once the game starts, the screen turns black.

Hi ! I have the same problem hère since more than 10 days. Only on Unity. I launch the game and few seconds after thé first screen ( the White text on black screen ) , that crash.

S21 keeps resetting while trying to play D2 with xbox 1 controller

This is a recent problem, probably within the last two weeks or so. I don't play on wifi, but until recently, no issue. Now, I'll be playing D2 and my phone will reset. Not a full reboot, but the game stalls, then black screen, then it just restarts the phone. It doesn't take as long as a manual restart, but still. I've updated with no success. Any thoughts?

Samsung S22+

I recently just upgraded to the Samsung S22 plus. The app opens up I can start the game. While loading the screen goes black.. I can hear the music, but I cannot see the screen... I've tried it on all the games I have on stadia and the same problem continues. I even went to do the experimental mode. The same thing still happens. Please help and thank you....

Very disappointing. Stadia is one of the primary reasons I purchased this tablet.

I love google stadia. i've been using Microsoft Edge and the games work pretty good, i get lag spikes sometimes but that's just my internet. However, When i open the stadia app on my phone (moto e6) and go into a game, the screen is black, but the game audio is audible. this happened with both Touchscreen controls AND a PS4 and Xbox Controller.

It's not much of an issue like i said, i mainly game on the Edge browser, but it's kinda frustrating that it doesn't work. however, i go into google chrome on my phone and use stadia, the touch controls work and i can see the game, but...it's pretty laggy. again, maybe its my internet...maybe not. thanks if anyone can help!
