Stadia seems to be trending on Twitter... and not for the right reasons. For those wondering, I attached the tweets below.

I disagree with his statements, as I see more benefits to the current model, in an ecosystem where developers benefit a lot from content creators(and vice versa)... Although, I can see a certain side where his argument does make sense. What do you guys think?

He just shot the stadia community and a stadia brand in the foot. now it will be officially 10 times harder for Google to ever try to get Stadia to become a future of gaming. Alex needs to be fired immediately and Stadia needs to make an apology for his bad take and state that it does not endorse his opinion in any way shape or form

In addition his statement is definitely bias since he is a Developer, which I also believe is at the heart of the issue: his Twitter bio is a bit misleading. Because it sounds as though he is THE Creative Director at Stadia, which is not the case. He is a creative director for the Montreal Game studio that was acquired by Stadia.

As far as I can make out, game streaming exists in a bit of a grey area. Publishers and Devs obviously benefit from it otherwise they wouldn't toss out promotional freebies or brag about stream views for their games, so you can't even call it turning a blind eye.

The streamer acts as a self employed community manager in a way, so they should have a solid protection.

So yes, I do think streaming should be explicitly permitted in a license, because then the streamers are protected in case of idiot moves by the publisher. Whether that license should be paid for separately or included in a standard EULA is above my pay grade, but I don't see how charging for it could work in any way.

But this is a monumental foot-in-mouth mistake for a platform that set out from the beginning to try and blur the lines between gamer, streamer and viewer.

He is right. The video game industry has been for 50 years, streamers 5 years, also here they come to say that they give free publicity and help developers to sell their product and my question is ... what happens when it is the other way around and destroys the work of years From a developer, for example Anthem or the most recent one with Marvel Avengers or even Stadia, many Youtubers destroy it simply because they change YouTube policies and these people should be legally responsible for the things they say and for this they should be legally incorporated into the commercial registry.

I hope one day comes.

Honestly, only game youtubers or game streamers or those who pretend to be will be offended.

Here now Alex represents a company and by a personal opinion ppl want to be fired, you Youtubers / Streamers do not represent anyone and you can give your opinion freely.

Doesn't matter. when you place you are a creative director for Stadia on your Twitter and you say something extremely stupid, it reflex badly on the whole platform. does not matter that he's just a developer because a lot of other developers are calling him stupid as well. He has proven he is and the consumer and his damaged the brand he should be promptly fired and Google needs to come out and condemn him completely. If they don't stadia there truly will be dead in the water. Hell the fact that he misled the Twitter community with misleading information on his bio is proof that he should have been in trouble a long time ago.

We have worked so much to build this image of stadia only to be bismirched by someones opinion on developers piece of the poisoned pie.

Sure your opinion is you own, but knowing he was on a platform that has its own trouble making a good impression, he deliberately dragged the Stadia name in the rocky acid filled mud. A persons own opinion became Stadia incarnate and spewed jibberish like a rabid man asking of water in an alien planet. We shoudnt fire him, but he shouldnt be in a position to represent Stadia directly or indirectly by association.

Influencers have no power, only a legion of new generation followers who have completely lost social interaction and only interact through electronic devices and who pay for their comment or nickname to be featured on the channel of their idol, millions of comments that nobody reads.

They have simply replaced a presenter of a children's show or a circus clown and this is tremendously dangerous and I am not only talking about games here ... before very few people had influence in society, a teacher, your parents, friends, a writer, a musician, a journalist ... but people had their own personalities.

Today the youngest are confused, can you see the protagonist of immortal fenyx rising.

The way society interacts is changing very fast and social networks are distancing us from human contact and values ... where nothing has consequences and sensitivity is being lost.

This is extremely dangerous and must be changed.

I actually got a friend to make a Stadia account for the Mega Tunnel Battle demo from them seeing me stream it. Couple with the Cyberpunk news last week, and the Immortals demo this week, Stadia was starting to gain some positive buzz that unfortunately just got deflated a bit.

I think Stadia will be fine in the long run, even Xbox managed to turn things around from the 2013 Xbox One launch, but this definitely set back public perception in the short term.

Well I kind of understand what he's saying.

Imagine a streamer commenting movies live, his stream would be instantly locked. When popular music is being played they are cutting sound to not be caught by the copyright infringement. Why would the image of the game not be copyrighted the same way?

Some games sure are benefiting from streams but others aren't. I mean yes, if you watch a Bomberman stream you will still want to acquire and play the game. But if you watch a heavily narrative game such as Detroit become human or Inside with every spoil included, there is no way someone will want to play after that.

Don't forget some streamers are making tons of money on their channels to stream game content. There should be royalties at some point.

Like it or not, he has a point and he's in his rights to say it. To every people saying he should be fired : I hope you guys aren't religious. Where I live, a teacher got his head cut recently because he tried to say in a civic course that our laws allow freedom of speech and he showed pictures of Muhammad as an example of free speech.

To be fair though: I understand what he means. Especially big streamers can earn so much money with a game they might have bought once. BUT those streames usually also buy (or get ofc) a lot in-game stuff AND they are litterly promoting the game/brand/platform for you. So more games are sold and more in-game stuff might be purchased. I do believe it's a bit of win-win situation.

However, this dude, he is thinking like Google. Stadia is from Google and Google is untouchable, and therefore Stadia is invicible. If this dude state he was a creative director at Playstation people might have thought "okay he's got a point". But now he is from Stadia (or a company owned by) and people are like "Who the f*k are you, you crazy dude?" It's all about context.

Stadia needs to attend to this fire and really up their marketing game.

I think he is right. The question of whether or not the games industry should or would enforce it is different. I can’t go to a football match and live stream me watching it for example...unless I pay a licence to be the broadcaster. Ultimately if people are making money streaming then the developers who actually make the games are going to want their slice of that pie...

@Whito shut up lol, your stupid. The proof is in the numbers. The reason videogames are so BIG now, and the reason Stadia exists is because of influencers, streams. New age, for a New generation that's it pal. Take your BS your spewing elsewhere, quit defending this **bleep**. Trust me if I ever meant you, I'd still social distance also would talk circles around your ass. Ironic that people with the least charisma and talking skills get on here with these ludicrous comments why, because you don't fit in? Alex Hutchinson is Wrong it's that simple.
