Well, my phone dates back to 2017. Maybe there are different versions of USB-C cables? I can trasfer data via this cable from my phone to the PC though.

Hi,

The Google Stadia Controller works just fine when using it via the Chromecast on my TV; however, when connecting the Google Stadia Controller via a USB-C cable to my PC, the controller is not recognized by any game in Google Stadia on Google Chrome. I tested this both on Windows 10 and on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on the same machine machine.

Any ideas on how to go about this issue?

EDIT: Solved it by using the Google Stadia official USB-C cable instead of my Huawei P10's USB -C cable

Your phone cable is probably a charging only cable. I'm not sure why they do it as it probably only saves them a couple of cents per cable, but it's not unheard of for manufacturers to include USB cables that are useless for data and only sufficient for passing power.
