Is chromium based the same as Chrome?

I use Brave as my primary browser both on my desktop and on my phone. And I've noticed while I have great down and up speeds, it sometimes chugs where something like my Chromebook would often do less. My machine is not incapable by any stretch of the imagination. I wanted to ask if anyone else has experience with multiple chromium-based browsers and if it makes any difference by comparison to chrome itself?

Google Chrome is based on Chromium, and Brave is also based on Chromium... but they are not the same browser, obviously. Google may very well have optimizations for Stadia in Chrome that are not part of Chromium and therefore won't be available to other Chromium based browsers. For the best Stadia experience on PC, I would recommend just sticking with Chrome.
