To some extend, resetting the chrome settins was the solution, however i found the specific setting which is causing the issue (for me at least). Under system settings, when the 'Use hardware acceleration when available' option is disabled it causes server input delay and lag. After enabling this option the issues were immediatly gone and has therefor solved the problem.

While I get it to work perfectly via the Chromecast both wired and wirelessly without any noticeable lag I just cant get the same experience while trying it via the chrome browser on my laptop. At first I thought it was my wireless adapter in my laptop that was the culprit so I got myself an external wireless adapter with proper speed properties. Still to no effect. Disabled Windows firewall, tried incognito mode but still I get horrible lag to the degree it's unplayable while in the same wireless network via Chromecast there is not a single issue. I just cant figure out what could be the cause for it....

There are clearly a lot of issues they need to work out. Because I have the best experience on my Pixelbook so far, where as Chromecast is just so so.

Oké, so after creating a local separate account on my laptop and logging into chrome with my Google account (without enabling sync) the lag is completely gone...same experience as I had on the Chromecast. Somehow it must be related to the settings in the chrome browser on my main laptop account. Problem is finding what it could be as there is no clear indication of the cause of the input delay/ lag. Could try to enable synchronization to see what happens to the experience on the local account and if it changes....

So far I've had no issues with either running on Chromecast or via Chrome. Although I did reset everything in Chrome to default a day earlier in relation to another issue that I was encountering that was not Stadia related.

If you need to reset Chrome to default settings, you can navigate to the URL chrome://flags/ and select Reset all to default. It will require a restart of the browser iirc.

I get best picture quality on Chromecast Ultra vs Chrome, but seem to perform a bit better in Chrome.
Chromecast have sharp picture while Chrome have fuzzy picture.

Both are wired on same GIGABIT router to a 520/520 fiber line.
