Yes I know "later this month" is terrible. That could be more than two weeks away. You can't have updates rolling out weeks behind other platforms, especially for online games. It makes Stadia look second rate, and it is a terrible experience for the players. I've been loving Stadia but this is incredibly disappointing and frustrating.

So the Moonshiners update came out this morning for RDR2. I've been hyped for this like everyone else who plays Red Dead Online. By the time we got to 10.30am (GMT) I started to get disappointed as the patch rolled out to PC, XBOX and PlayStation. It started to look like maybe Stadia updates only go out in working hours on the East Coast of the USA, which would be terrible to be several hours behind the other platforms, but ok. Now it transpires that the Stadia update is billed as "later this month". So we don't have to wait for a 20 minute download, but instead we have to wait two weeks?! This is an absolutely abysmal experience for Stadia players - like kids having to watch everyone else open their Christmas presents while they wonder if Santa has forgotten about them. The patching may be down to R* but Google needs to be all over stuff like this if it wants to compete. They need to ensure their new service at least matches existing platforms - it can't be left in the dust like this or it will flop badly.
Yes I meant to add that too. If I leave it at balanced, will it go up to 4k after I switch back to my 4k TV, or does 'best visual quality' need to be selected before it will try this?

Most of the time I will be playing on my laptop or spare TV, neither of which are 4k. From what I've picked up from the reviews, when Stadia runs games at max resolution it restrictis framerate to 30FPS, but if you play at 1080p or below it will do 60 FPS. So if I'm playing on a CC ultra on a non-4k TV, would it be better to adjust the settings to balanced instead of best visual performance? It would seem a waste to lost the FPS to get Stadia to render games at a resolution that my TV can't display anyway. I'm hoping that on my laptop, Stadia would figure this out anyway and just opt for 1080p/60FPS. But when streaming to a CC Ultra which itself can handle 4k to even if the TV is connected to cannot then maybe Stadia wouldn't detect this? Be good to know how this works exactly, I'd rather just leave it at best visual and have Stadia figure it all out of possible. Data usage is not an issue for me, just trying to ensure the best experience across different screens.
