My words.... We are not casuals, we are nerds, gamers and techies. If they hit casuals with this lack of promised 5.1 Sound, they will **bleep** it all up. Besides: I know why I can't have 5.1 Sound when CCU is connected to my TV, as I have a 2019 LG with HDMI2.1 but obviously they have not all eARC features fixed yet. So the Signal from CCU can't (yet) be forwarded to my reciever. Update WILL come 2020, but as my TV is on the upper end of technology, I doubt that most of the TVs out there are able to do so, too. Connected to my receiver 5.1 works like a charm, but I don't want this solution. CCU should be connected to the TV. At least as long as my TV recognize the CCU as CCU. Fun fact: My LG does not know what the CCU is. It does not recognize it. My ex wife's Samsung does recognize it imediatelly. That is why I can't plug it into my receiver, as without recognition it won't switch to the right input channel.

Guess I was wrong: https://www.trustedreviews.com/news/chromecast-4k-ultra-vs-chromecast-2-whats-the-difference-2944328 But anyway: Google said, it will only work (for now) with Chromecast Ultra. Maybe because of HDR and 4K. But this you could ask Stadia Support directly.
Guess it will never work on normal Chromecast, as Ultra streams directly from Web, Chromecast normal uses a streaming device - as far as I know.
Only Ultra. Normal Chromecast works different as the Ultra.
Turn off your TV?

Don't blame your setup. It's Stadia. I am in talks with support in Mountain View because of that, but don't expect anything great out of it. It's because they sending 5.1 PCM and assuming it works with TVs capable of eARC and Receivers able to process eARC, too. Both are supporting it in my setup, but it's still not working. So you can't be able to get 5.1 sound on your setup. You're right though with bitstream.
Do you block some ports? Chromecasts uses ports 44700 - 44899 when streaming.

Ok, good point, the tech related point of view. @GraceFromGooglemaybe you could forward this thought. I am QA for myself, and I run into some "conditions" I would have figured out before. Of course, developing a product makes you blind on some places, but at least I would have checked 5.1 passthrough on the most common 20 TVs, and at least from every major company. It does not make sense, to know, that Netflix runs with 5.1 and Dolby Vision on ChromeCast Ultra, but Stadia lacks color in HDR (Destiny2) and has only 2.0 passthrough. To expect people to be able to have 5.1 PCM over eARC is also not a good point. For me, I have a TV with HDMI 2.1 already, manufactured in August. My Receiver (Yamaha RX-V685) has also eARC enabled already. I list these points, as in your FAQ is mentioned, that it will work with 5.1 Sound when your TV supports eARC. But it does not. Besides, only few TVs out there are supporting eARC. This was a wrong approach from start. Go and broadcast Dolby Sound, and everyone will be fine. Yes, also google because more paying customers will balance the more costs for Dolby Licences. If Netflix can do DD+ in a 4K stream, I guess Google can, too. BTW... I now recognize that ChromeCast Ultra was not able to broadcast Dolby Atmos, but my TV is? Interesting.... Tested with 2nd season of Punisher. My TV played with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, but Chromecast only showed DD+ in my receiver and no DD+/ATMOS. Might be a hardware issue. Anyway: @Amphoterism is right: If casual users will struggle here, thers a huge #**bleep**storm incoming!

You have to plug you ChromeCast into your receiver. Even though my TV supports eARC (as it has HDMI2.1 already) and my Receiver does, too, I can't get 5.1 sound when plugged into my TV. When I plugged it into my receiver, it worked. So YES, it IS a problem on Stadia side. But NO, you won't get - for now - 5.1 if plugged into a TV.
Yes it is. But you have to plug in your ChromeCast into your Receiver. For me it works, although my receiver does NOT recognize my ChromeCast and I have to manually switch inputs when starting Stadia.... See more...

For me it works, although my receiver does NOT recognize my ChromeCast and I have to manually switch inputs when starting Stadia. ChromeCast Ultra is simply not saying "Hello" to my Receiver. My TV has the same problem, but there selecting HDMI3 is much more convinient than switching to my receiver und switching inputs there...

My observations regarding the sound topic in Destiny2: Chromecast Ultra on TV: HDR is washed out 5.1 Surround Sound not enabled besides my TV has eARC (HDMI 2.1 already) and Receiver is supporting it, too Sound is delayed for about 0.25 seconds   Chromecast Ultra on Receiver: HDR is washed out 5.1 Sound working Sound is delayed but only hardly noticable
