Another Ubisoft game huh. Does this make the fix for the 'Ubisoft slowdown bug' any more likely?

Nice to know I'm not the only person who has noticed the issues! I've tried posting the 'fix' several times over in the Stadia subreddit, but things tend to move really quickly over there. I'd hoped that posting it here might have caught the eye of Grace or Chris, but so far nothing (and I really don't like tagging people for attention as it feels a bit needy). Part of me feels like I should boycott buying Ubisoft games until they fix it, but in some ways its better to have a bug you can fix than one that you can't, and the fix only takes 15 seconds so *shrug* Also gamer boycotts never work, so there is that.

(Its in the 'Account Information' menu once you have signed in). I'm not really sure what you would do if there is a problem though.......

Its a problem across all Ubisoft games, its just most pronounced in WDL. Play any game from them for long enough and eventually the performance will degrade. In most games it takes 2-3 hours before you notice anything, but with WDL being a more demanding game, it happens a lot sooner. The cause is something to do with Ubisoft Connect. To 'fix' the performance, simply pause the game and open the Ubisoft Connect menu. It can take a few seconds to load. Once it's loaded you can exit out and return to the game. The frame-rate should be more-or-less back to normal for another hour. This 'fix' works across all Ubisoft games - as long as you can get into the Ubisoft Connect menu from within the game (annoyingly, in WD1, which I got as part of the WDL Premium bundle, you cannot). Hopefully this bug gets fixed at some point in the new year, but until then, it only takes 15 seconds to hop in-and-out of the Ubisoft Connect menu, which is a lot quicker than closing and restarting the game!

I've posted this over in the Ubisoft forums too, but so far no response from anyone. I'm posting it here too, as some people might find it useful, and you never know, it might prompt Google and Ubisoft to knock their heads together and roll out a fix (I'm not holding my breath though). I've noticed that, across every Ubisoft game I have on Stadia, they will all start to suffer from performance deterioration (frame-rate dropping) after a prolonged play session. Its more obvious in some games than in others. In Watch Dogs Legion, the frame-rate will steadily drop from 30fps to what feels like 15fps (and even lower if you keep playing) after 90 minutes of play. In Immortals Fenyx Rising, if playing in Performance Mode (60fps), after an hour of play the frame-rate will start to hitch. In Watch Dogs 1, in Performance Mode (60fps), after an hour of play the frame-rate will start to hitch. Games where is is less noticeable (performance only starts to drop after about 3 hours of play) are Far Cry 5, Far Cry New Dawn, Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Other games I've not tested, or do not own on Stadia. The fix is always the same. Pause the game, then go into the Ubisoft Connect / Ubisoft Club menu. Let the menu load (it can take a few seconds), then back out of the menu and return to the game. Performance will be back to normal, and you can keep playing for another hour / 3 hours (depending on the game) before performance will start to dip again. Just to be clear: I've checked my connection - no problems there. Rebooted my router. Made sure my connection is wired. Made sure no other devices are on the network at the time. Tried playing on both Chromecast and Laptop. Other people in the Stadia subreddit have reported the same problem. The problem only affects Ubisoft games, and it affects all Ubisost games that I've tied. I can, for example, play Borderlands 3 or Destiny 2 for hours and hours with no drop in overall performance. As opening the Ubisoft Connect menu is the thing that always causes performance to recover, I really think its some sort of memory leak or build-up of data that only gets cleared when the Connect menu is opened. Any chance someone could look into this? especially with Uplay+ and more Ubisoft games coming to Stadia, it would suck if people found the performance to be sub-par. Thanks.
