I noticed that by default, my Stadia Pro Buddy Pass subscription was due to be renewed when my initial 3 month period expires. Basically, this means that Google will make a lot of money (they need the monthly income) from offering Buddy Passes from people who don't bother to cancel their subsciptions before the 3 month expiry date. This seems like an unpleasent thing to do considering the current state of Stadia, e.g. auto enroll trial users for a service that only seems to work well (including 4K) for those with a Chromecast ultra and solid Wi-FI or LAN ethernet connection. Anyway, if you weren't already aware, cancelling your subscription early will not end your subscription before it is due to expire (3 months from when you started).
Has anyone tried cancelling a Buddy Pass subsciption yet? If so, Do you retain access to Stadia Pro until the 3 months is up?

Okay, well you guys sound like you've made your minds up and like Stadia. Fair enough - But ask yourself, what do I have to lose by thinking deeply about the strengths and weaknesses of Stadia in it's current state? Is it likely to improve or change much for the better in future? For several years better streaming services on PC have been available, like Playstation Now, which has better performance and hundreds of games. And a 7 day trial too so you can test it out easily. All you need is a half decent Internet connection and an OK laptop / PC, or a PS4. 1 disappointing thing though is no support for tablets / mobile devices yet. Also, many games are a bit sluggish (30 fps or lower) because they are streamed from old console hardware. Xbox Live is OK, not great in my opinion. You get some free games each month, but only if you claim them during that month. This is merely a bonus to attract new customers, the main reason to buy XB Live is to play games online. Xbox Game Pass is a much better deal at the moment, just £1 for 3 months on PC and Xbox One. But it gets expensive after that. You can just keep using the this offer on different accounts though as far as I know. I mentioned xCloud because, as you probably know, it will soon be included as part of a Game Pass subscription, with apparently 50+ games at launch. Stadia has it's advantages too, like the fact you can play it on multiple platforms and in 4K. Both these features are still in development though, there's no 4K on PC (via chrome browser) and 4K only works on a couple of expensive Google mobile phones and Chromecast Ultra officially and no tablets yet. The ability to start games almost immediately is a nice timesaving feature. Stadia is so far from ready at the moment, that they obviously don't want to offer a trial service to all users. I think the most disappointing thing is that some games still have problems on 1080p resolution (my connection is 40mbps+ with good latency), this makes me wonder how well 4K will work on Chrome browsers when released in 2020.

None. The point is that if someone signs up in January or February next year, they will presumably not get access to the free games that have been released in November and December 2019. This will obviously put a significant limit on the number of free games to new Stadia Pro subscribers who sign up later on. But they pay the same amount as those who subscribed from the beginning. Wouldn't it be far simpler (and better value) just to grant all Pro subscribers access to all games previously included free with Stadia Pro?

I've been lucky enough to get a Stadia Buddy pass today and found out that claiming 'free' games is a requirement. This means you don't get access to games for free on Stadia Pro, that were released in previous months if you've just signed up. This is a huge negative for Stadia Pro, considering it will cost more than a basic Netflix sub (~£6). Is this culture of greed within Google a recent development? Why not let Stadia Pro members access all previously released games? How else will Stadia possibly compete with Microsoft's xCloud?

Not really a fan of games like Destiny 2, I suppose it's a bit too much of a generic shooter to be appealing. Don't care about Farming Simulator at all. Tomb Raider are OK for a bit. Will there be any other AAA games, like Baldur's Gate III, Red Dead Redemption II, Assassins Creed, or Doom Eternal (yes please!) included with a Stadia Pro sub? It kind of seems like us gamers have to pay to play the best games. If so, why sign up Stadia Pro? EDIT - Why not let Stadia Pro subscribers choose any game when they sign up? This offer could be repeated every 3 or 6 months for subscribers

I found an excellent online tool for checking your PC / device's packet loss over the Internet, link here: https://packetlosstest.com/ I'm currently using AC WI-FI 1 floor above my router and I usually get 0% packet loss with 300 pings per second, after tweaking some of the settings on my WI-FI adapter and router. If I turn the packet size to max on the website, I sometimes get a lot of packet loss, but I'm unsure if this is to do with the website, or my own WI-FI to the router. I don't have a Stadia subscription to test my connection yet as they aren't available. My question is, can I use WI-Fi on Stadia reliably on Stadia at 1080p or 4K (60fps), or, should I only use ethernet / wired connection to my PC with Stadia? Also, my speeds over WI-FI match my Internet connection speed at 50mbps.

Is there a minimum or recommended latency requirement for Stadia to work well at 1080p or 4k resolutions? Latency on 4G is around 30-50ms (in the UK), would that be enough for stable/fluid gameplay? I have a 50mbps VDSL connection and the latency is pretty low (8-10ms), connected via Wi-fi at close range. What I'm wondering is, should I upgrade to a possible speed of 90-100mbps with a 4G router, or stick with a fixed line 50mbps connection? I suppose another factor here is how close the nearest Google data centre is to where I live. Is there a way to find the location of this? EDIT - there is one in London, according to this: https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3014/2404813455_c0422a275c_o.jpg

Thanks for this info, it does seem as though Google wanted the launch to be limited to a relatively low percentage of users (presumably to test the product before full launch and possibly to mitigate a potentially negative reception). Adding a Pro sub. could increase the number of users by 10x or more and so far, the reception has been quite mixed.  I noticed they are controlling the codes issued quite carefully and the buddy codes are not yet available apparently. It's a shame there's no offical way for all users to beta test the product and give suggestions for improvement.

I'd like to use Stadia without needing to buy new hardware, so the Stadia Pro subscription appeals to me.  Couldn't the Pro Subscription be made available to anyone who didn't pay (a substantial upfront cost) for the Stadia Premiere or Founder's Edition? I suppose I assumed ( naively) this would be the case on launch. There's no information about this on the Stadia website, will there be an announcement from Stadia / Google regarding the availability of Stadia Pro to everyone? I understand that some might be unwilling to pay $10 a month for Stadia Pro at present, due to the lack of included game titles, therefore, couldn't the Pro membership cost just be reduced to around $5? Then it could be gradually increased as more games are added?
