That's good to hear, fingers crossed you're sorted. Like you say a bit of an odd one, I know sometimes the housing around the USB C cable can cause issues (several cables won't sit in my daughter's tablet quite right due to chunky plastic around it) but I can't see that being the case with the Stadia controller.

Sounds more like an issue with either the machine your connecting to or the USB cable you're using. I've had issues before with USB cables where they're connections are loose or bent and had this happen before when charging a phone when it'd constantly keep disconnecting. Likewise I've seen faulty USB ports do the same. I'd suggest try a new cable and use a different USB port if possible. Failing that can you try in another machine? Good luck!

Great post and great replies by all, a good read. Regarding keyboard and mouse, I agree however this is a technical limitation of the Chromecast I believe (might be wrong but I did a quick search) as it doesn't have Bluetooth capabilities which I believe is how most wireless keyboards and mice connect. Google homes have Bluetooth so I guess they could potentially double hop but that sounds laggy. In terms of target audience and marketing, I feel like they don't know who they're target audience is and they haven't driven the Stadia hard marketing wise and I can't fathom why, I can only assume it's maybe a choice they've made. Maybe get a base of players, almost beta testers, and when they're confident and have a really good library and some exclusives, maybe they'll then try and push it more. I haven't seen one TV ad in the UK, other than the fact I'm a 39 year old geek Stadia could've completely passed me by! The issue Stadia seems to have is perception, any Stadia article, outside of this forum, is full of comments sections full of people slating Stadia, it's subscription model and it's general existence, I think this is what Google needs to address to win the masses over. Love Stadia though, own a PC, PS4 and a Switch, PS4 is gathering dust, turned it on to play Destiny 2, turned it off because there was a massive update to wait for, no thanks, not anymore! The convenience of Stadia is great, for me it works perfectly, if the kids are watching *insert mind numbing kids TV program of the minute here* on the TV I can grab the Chromebook and instantly get playing. Same in the garden using my Orzly phone mount and Pixel phone.  My only slight moan is it'd be nice if there was a cheaper way to get the family round the TV playing games like Get Packed other than buying another 3 controllers at £60 a pop, which just isn't going to happen. I guess it comes back to the original post and wanting to link keyboard and mouse, if we could link other controllers to the Chromecast Ultra, problem solved!

It's all pretty much covered already but here is what I generally do: I always enable both 5GHz and 2.4GHz as separate wireless networks on the router, I then connect what I'm using for Stadia to 5 and connect everything else to 2.4, a bit monotonous but worth it. I use something like WiFi analyser on my phone and see what the clearest channel is, then change mine to that. I also turn off any option on the router which will auto change to what it thinks is the clearest channel. Periodically Ilook to make sure the channel is still the least congested. Never really had a problem on wireless, good topic to post, Kudos @RJpianist

I believe Google bumped everyone down to 1080p due to Covid 19 and the additional strain that was putting on ISPs and networks in general. I haven't looked but I'd guess they may have changed that back, I noticed it as well yesterday but didn't think about it until I read this. Might not be that at all, but would make sense.

It's worth baring in mind that Virgin is fibre to the home, the majority of BTs offerings are just fibre to the cabinet, meaning the last leg of the journey is in contended, old copper, so what you get quoted isn't necessarily what you'll get, depending on how close you are to the cabinet. I know people on "superfast broadband" with BT that get speeds barely better than decent ADSL because of this. If you have neighbours you can speak to maybe chat with them before making the swap. Unfortunately the only way I can get decent speeds is through Virgin as the top end of my road is on its own little cab which BT won't upgrade as it isn't commercially viable. I won't grumble though, 200mb and Stadia is smooooooth. BT have always rolled out there latest and greatest to rural areas, unsure if why, testing maybe, ease of doing it possibly. My parents live near lands end and had infinity way before most places.

You can pay for a pro subscription for which you will get games you can claim and play while you pay that subscription. Or you can pay for games and then play them for no subscription. Or you can do both. Hope this clarifies the situation, you can claim a free pro membership to try now for 2 months, so maybe give it a go and see how it works for you, if not safe travels.

I'd love to get another controller so that I can play some games with my daughter on the TV,  particularly Get Packed which looks fun, but £59 is too expensive imo, £10 more than an Xbox One controller and £15 more than a PS4. It just seems steep which is a shame as it would get me buying more games, maybe they could offer some discount for pro members, or anyone that's purchased X games or something. In general though, love Stadia, had it from the beginning and will continue with it, keep up the good work Stadia team!

I'd love for SSX to come to Stadia: - SSX Tricky would be great remastered with local co-op and online play - SSX on tour as above - A brand new SSX game I would pay for all the above in a heartbeat, one of my favourite all time game franchises sadly missed, Google have a word with EA and bring it to Stadia! Other than that, some meaty Stadia only exclusives, this is what I feel is really needed to make Stadia a success.

@CajunWaffles can you tell us a little more information?  Is this the same location as where you also use the Chromecast or a different network? That basically looks like it's being blocked by a firewall,  I hit the same thing at work (during lunch obviously). If not it could well be your PCs firewall, turn it off and try again. If you can give us some more information I'm sure someone here will be able to resolve it for you, it isn't a Stadia issue, it'll be a local network/ISP thing.

It's understandable to stop your subscription if you're done with the free games and there is nothing right now that you're interested in playing.  The beauty of it is you can cancel now and pick it back up if and when there is something on there that you want to play.  While there isn't a massive library of games yet I don't think it's *that* bad for a few months in, Google are investing money into it, they've acquired a games studio or two as well, so the games will come.   Personally I'm enjoying it immensely, I hadn't played Destiny 2 before and being able to drop into it using my TV, Chromebook or at lunch at work is great and I don't mind replaying the Tomb Raider games.  My only criticism, which seems to be a common theme is lack of information from Google on the future (as mentioned, they're probably developing some new games, just let us know about it!) and what I think is terrible marketing, for what little of it there is out there.  Otherwise, I'm a big fan and I hope its a success.
