Ah, this morning they mailed me confirming the refund within 14 days My guess: They didn't have the refund process working yet when stadia went live. Their agile team only delivered it this week and we had to wait for it. They also cancelled all my founders benefits as expected: - No more founder badge - #1285 attached to gametag - pro games are gone - Cannot stream any game any more (not even the free destiny 2)

+1 I returned the stadia founder edition over 14 days ago (I has issues with surround sound). Getting a return label was no problem. However, after posting it, I haven't heard anything and they aren't responding to my mails and haven't issued a refund. What's the problem for them, this is a simple return & refund within 14 days!?!! This is the worst digital shopping experience I've had in years. Normally at this point, I would dispute the payment with my credit card company, but in this case this would put my google account & email at risk. I don't think I will ever buy physical goods from them directly anymore.

I'm not expecting a fix anytime soon, that's why I just filled out the return form... Those support people will probably first let your reboot/reset/restore factory your TV, receiver, chromecast, phone, router and phone. Then they will say that your situation is not supported and you can only use the CC directly in the TV with no receiver.

I can confirm that ARC only support 2.0 in my setup. My TV /receiver do not support EARC, though that should be able to forward the signal. If I put the CC into my yamaha directly I'm getting a 3/2/0 PCM signal (5.0). This is surround and I can hear that over my headphones. However, I also feel that I'm missing some bass compared to my ps4pro destiny 2 gameplay. Ps4pro gives a 7.1 PCM signal AND supports dolby digital/DTS for ARC/optical paths, that's much better for surround.

I agree with matzee. Everybody will have their own reason they bough stadia. For me it was as an upgrade over my PS4 pro: Playing destiny2 / tomb raider etc @4k/60p. As an ad-interim service until the next-gen would arrive. However, it's not that. It's only on par with ps4pro / xbox one x, not an upgrade. Add all the growing pains and there is no reason at all for me to actually use my new stadia console. Playing games on my trusty old ps4pro feels better than stadia. I can only play destiny 2 and don't trust the platform enough to actually buy the games I wanted to play on stadia I'm going to hold onto it for a couple more days and see if stuff improves (at least the promised 4k/60fps), otherwise I see no reason not te return the founder edition.

What kind of 5.1 device do you have? Does it support HDMI in? Only solution I can give is to plug the chromecast in the HDMI-in of your 5.1 receiver. Or maybe there are converter devices that can convert a HDMI 5.1 PCM signal into 5.1 Dolby digital over optical. The PS4(pro) is capable of transcoding the audio signal into DTS/DD on the fly and send this over the HDMI link. Your TV can then extract this signal and output it over optical (Most TV's support this). Stadia does not seem to have this functionality. It outputs the audio in 5.1 PCM (uncompressed). This does not fit in the bandwidth of the optical audio and the TV only forwards the 2.0 stereo sound.

After fixing my hdcp2.2 issues (cycle power on tv/receiver) I managed to hook up the chromecast to the receiver instead of ARC. This results in PCM 5.1 audio. Haven't tested much, but the audio delay seems to have been fixed by not using ARC. update: No, not fixed. With CC hooked up to receiver, I do get surround sound, but there is audio lag. No good lipsync in cutscene dialog or shooting. Watching netflix in the same setup on the same chromecast has perfect lipsync.
The whole reason I bought the Stadia was because it's supposed to be twice as powerful as my PS4 pro. In practice it's a downgrade. Framerate is better, but visuals are worse.

How do I get 5.1 surround working? I've tried 3 setups: chromecast in receiver , TV on HDMI-OUT of receiver -> This results in an HDCP 2.2 error, no picture Chromecast directly on TV, receiver on TV through ARC -> This results in 2.0 PCM audio Chromecast directly on TV, receiver on TV through optical -> This results in 2.0 PCM audio How to get 5.1 output from stadia??? My PS4 PRO outputs 7.1PCM in the first situation and 5.1 DTS in the two/three . UPDATE: Got it to work for now. Somehow the HDCP 2.2 error shows up after the CC ultra first boots. Turning the TV and receiver on and off again results in a nice 1080p image plus PCM 5.1 audio.
