For what it's worth, I fired this title up again a couple of days ago, and over an hour or so of gameplay I was no longer experiencing the issue.

Not apologizing for resurrecting this thread since it appears in a current Google search for my very similar question. Headsets like the one you linked have an audio device hard-wired into their USB cable, which is the 7.1 audio device. However that one is a VIRTUAL 7.1 headset, which means that the little audio device in the headset cable probably just adds Dolby or DTS surround sound virtualization to the same ol' two-channel input. So this means that if you pull the padding back on this kind of headset, you'll find only one speaker is wired into each headphone. It's just using software to try and simulate surround sound (which isn't complete BS, btw — after all, we do manage to position sound with just our two ears, but saying an ear is just a microphone is a gross-oversimplification. I'm digressing though...) However, as of now, six months since the original question was posted, there is another, actually more affordably-priced, headset which is an actual TRUE 7.1 headset. This means that there are actually several, independently-wired speakers in each cup of the headphones. It has "[...] eight independent [audio] drivers" which means that the headset's audio device is actually receiving surround sound audio channels and passing them along to you — at no point is it being reduced to two channels. This again, like the model you linked to, has a little audio device built into the headset's cable. But this device is an actual surround sound audio device, not a 2-channel device that has some sort of virtual-surround DSP. Note that the headset also works with the PS4, due to the fact that it's just registering as a surround sound audio device when you plug it into a USB port. Therefore I would actually say there's a very good chance that you should be able to achieve surround sound with this on Stadia, assuming you play it on PC using the browser. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy the headset above and I'll definitely be trying this out. I would not be shocked if it turned out this can work with some Android devices too, assuming you are able to connect the headset via some USB-C hub with USB ports. This headset in particular unfortunately doesn't seem to support macOS, but if one like this did, then you should be able to also have surround sound on macOS that way.

Yeah — I experienced the same issue, and also was surprised because I've played 100+ hours of Cyberpunk and 10+ hours of Doom Eternal with no problem achieving 60fps on either title. Even with a Chromecast Ultra connect via Ethernet, Watch Dogs: Legion experiences a sudden frame drop from time to time. When I contacted Stadia support, they said that, because I'm not having these issues with any other title, that I need to take the issue up with Ubisoft. I asked the agent if that meant that he thought that the problem is not with the platform but with the devs' use of Stadia's APIs and he said yes, and that this means it's completely up to Ubisoft. I don't have a lot of experience with Ubisoft, but given that they're so huge and Watch Dogs: Legion is a multiplatform title, I'm skeptical that it'll be a high priority for them. Personally I'm trying to distract myself with something else and just hope that it gets fixed later, but really we should all report this issue to Ubisoft so they at least know it's happening. With a bug like this (not actually crashing), it's entirely possible that they won't automatically know it's happening.
