Do you know what is silicon lottery? I guess all Chromecasts run very hot and they will not last for long time. Especially if you got a bad draw from the silicon lottery... Your piece of equipment should perform fine but it will get even hotter than the average and probably cause some issues. Of course Google will never admit there is something wrong with it. It's their policy and 3 out of 3 times I had to report a certain bug issue to Google just so they know for furture updates, it was always my fault hahaha. However The simplest solution for Chromecasts is to buy those very cheap heatsinks for Raspberry pi. They range from 5 to 15 bucks for a pack of them. They come with thermal sticker at the bottom. Just stick a few on both sides of your Chromecasts and you will definitely see a difference. Mine gets very very hot, probably you can slowly boil an egg in it although I didn't have any issues yet. Still I put some heatsinks on it because this poor think won't last a year running so hot. Even if the electronics may be fine with this temperature, it will eventually wear out the plastics and possible thermal compound inside will just get "spilled" on the sides of the pressure point.
