I'm trying to decide whether to unlock "Wavetale" for my kids.  It seems nice at first but I noticed this in the description: she's "befriended by a mysterious shadow  that provides her with the power to walk on water." Their mother has very strong religious beliefs and I have to admit this sounds iffy to me too. I don't mind a fantasy aspect to things - superpowers or even magic.  But getting them from a "shadow"?   Hmm.  And something that echoes one of the most celebrated miracles of Christian belief?  Hmm. Can someone just tell me what happens in the story of the game; what the deal with this shadow is?  On this issue I don't mind spoilers; in fact I'm asking for them.

It's brutally hard to break into the video game space.  You have the chicken-and-egg problem.  Can't lure developers and titles without gamers, can't lure gamers without titles.  Google tried to solve the problem the first way: spent eye popping amounts of money, tens of millions per game, to get individual titles over to Stadia.  But clearly (given that Google won't disclose the info) the total number of Stadia users was still so low regardless of that that Google has given up on that approach, as demoralizing as that is for us. I do have a hard time understanding why long existing titles like Minecraft, Fortnite, Team Fortress 2, etc aren't ported.  I've heard Stadia being Linux based being blamed, but those titles already exist on Linux, so whatever porting if any should be trivial.  Not like porting Madden NFL or the like.  So I really wish they would close those loops, but maybe I'm wrong in thinking these are low-hanging fruit and easy accomplishments that Google is neglecting; maybe Google has tried but can't get the studios to agree. I think arguably they shouldn't have launched with such a splash, setting expectations so high.  Instead should have started off marketing Stadia as cheap, convenient, low-risk investment, especially suitable for casual gamers and kids.  So then any big title coming in would be good news exceeding expectations, rather than merely causing endless complaints about OTHER titles that had not yet come over.

More detail: my daughter says that the issue on her Android phone is that she can launch the Stadia app just fine.  The problem is that on doing so, where the big red Play button in the middle of the screen is, she does not have "This screen" as an available choice.  Only an offer to play the game on a computer or something.  How can I get her Stadia app to let her play the games on her own phone?
How is this permission from the Family Manager to be given?  Can it be given remotely? When you refer to the Family Link app, do you mean on the child's phone or on my phone?

Both my kids have Google accounts managed by me through Family Link.  Both have Android smartphones which for now is the only way they play Stadia games, via the Stadia Android app. My 9 year old girl reports that she can't play any of her Stadia games and that she is always blocked by a parental control message.  I take this to mean one of two possibilities. One, that she can't launch the Stadia app at all.  This might make sense because the Stadia app is rated Teen by Google Play and her Google account reflects the settings appropriate for her age.  However, I have already specifically unlocked the Stadia app for her. Two, that she can launch the Stadia app but cannot launch any individual games within it.  I told her next time she sees a parental block message to look for a prompt to send me an approval request. Is that how to do it?  Is there a way to make exceptions to access to age-rated content, both in terms of Android apps from Google Play, and in terms of Stadia games within Stadia? In other words, when I approved the Stadia app for her, does that overcome the fact that the app is rated Teen, which is a rating she is normally blocked from using? Similarly, I have her older brother (age set as 12) set to have a maximum of Everyone 10+. for Stadia games.  Within Stadia, I have flipped the switch to "Share this game with Family" on three Teen-rated games I'm OK with him playing.  But he can't even see them let alone try to launch them because he's blocked from all Teen games.  How can I unlock those three and only those three games for him?   Is there a way to make exceptions on ratings for Stadia games?
OK.  Even if the bundle is new and has not been used/activated?

If I buy one, can I make my existing account into a Founder account?  If not, could I shift my existing Gmail address to a newly-created Founder account?

I've been able to set up a kids account, Family Link, a User Profile on my phone, a Stadia account, shared games, and have that account and those games appear on the CU.  I think I'm on my way now and will add the other kid and other games, and get the device for me, etc., going forward.
That's it!  That makes it work.  Thank you!!

Did you already have Google accounts set up for the kids before you added User Profiles to your phone?  Or did you create new Google accounts for the kids after you set up their User Profiles to your phone? I just can't figure out the order to do these things in.  And it seems like if I get the order wrong, it'll be irreversible.
Not even with separate User Profiles for them?

But I wasn't planning on claiming the kids are older than they really are. In fact I want Google to know their real ages so that I can use that to limit the content they're exposed to. Are you really sure that there's no way to create kid accounts without using Family Link first?   See this post which says that adding new User Profiles on an Android phone is the way to do it.

I'm confused and overwhelmed about what to do, and in what order.  Help appreciated! Here's what I'm trying to do: I want to give Stadia to my two kids and share my kid-appropriate Stadia games with them. They'll be playing it only on a Chromecast Ultra on their TV. Here's the current situation: I have: My Stadia Pro Account My own Stadia controller A TV for me Kid-appropriate Stadia games I want to share Two other Stadia controllers, one for each kid A separate TV for them, already set up.  It's an older HDTV w/ no Android TV or Google TV or Stadia "app" in it. A Chromecast Ultra I currently play Stadia on my TV with. I'll remove this CU from my TV, give the CU to them, and attach it to their TV. Not yet existing: Personal Google accounts for the kids A Google Family The kids' Google accounts being part of my Google Family Family Link being set up The kids being in Family Link too (if that is not redundant to being in Google Family) The kids having Stadia accounts The Chromecast Ultra being set up with their Stadia accounts, and my account either being deleted or PIN-protected so they can't switch to my account and play grownup games A new device for my TV to play Stadia games on (and maybe also Android and GeForce Now games) -- like a CCwGTV, Onn Android TV, Shield TV etc My questions: If they're only going to use their personal Google accounts for Stadia on the Chromecast, and play games that I'm sharing with them via the Google Family, do still I need to set up Family Link?  If so, is the only way for me to set up Family Link (other than giving them their own Android devices) to use my Android phone and set up new User Profiles on it for them, even if they'll never actually use my phone or their accounts on it? If don't need Family Link for this scenario of only having the kids use Stadia and the CC Ultra, do I STILL need to set up Family Link so I have the option of changing my mind later about giving them an Android device or personal Chromebook etc Google Play Pass, Google Play Movies to share with them etc., and them still be able to use the same Google accounts as before? What order do I do things in?  I'm worried that if I create their Google accounts first before there's a Google Family, or set up a Google Family before a Family Link, etc I won't be able do it later. Thanks!  I really appreciate any help I can get.  I actually got them the Stadia controllers back at Christmas but I've never set it all up for them yet for various reasons, partly from it being so complicated and overwhelming.
Thanks.
So you were able to do this without wiping your phone?

Another former PlayStation user here.  I'm wondering if you eventually ended up creating a family set up with your kids being linked to your account. One benefit of separate accounts and buying the same game separately for each family member is that multiple people in your family can play the same game at the same time on different screens, or even play against each other.  Were they doing that when you posted this? If you've had them join a family group, has that eliminated their ability to play the same game at the same time, even for games that you had bought separately before the "merger"?
Demoralizing that they don't even have Stadia in their dropmenu of platforms.  I had to choose "Other".  Such casual disrespect for us!  Mentioned that in my request.
