With the much ballihooed death of Stadia from Day 1, it was always destined to never get the traction it needed (despite Google's best efforts to sacrifice it from the beginning and continued missteps). There isn't any other service currently like it (in my opinion) but there are certainly other options out there that you can sorta game on like it. The needle won't get moved much in gaming now, but that seems to be what the gaming industry and community always wants overall.
Interesting. You don't see anything here? https://stadia.google.com/settings/payments
This is a unique idea, send feedback in the app before it disappears.

It bites the big one, for sure. There's no blow-by-blow replacement for Stadia (it was pretty unique overall) but GeForce NOW is a good service that has the potential to be pretty close to how cross-device Stadia was by default. Obviously if you use Steam at all that goes multi-platform pretty well, but these are both clunkier services that need to work out a lot of the cruft (if they ever do). Certainly, super-smooth cross-device gameplay over the Internet dies with Stadia but we can find other alternatives to play stuff, if that's your bag.

One of my recent feedback suggestions in the app (besides the standard "this sucks why are you closing") was a possibility of adding links in the game pages of our library to other services where we can buy the games. I will certainly be much more selective with my game purchases going forward (due to time & money obviously) but there are absolutely some games in Stadia that I would like to buy elsewhere. Sure, I can just go look them up myself but I figure if the team is already in maintenance mode, a little extra effort in this regard wouldn't hurt.

I'm definitely in a similar boat; with Stadia closing and since I'm much more of a casual player, I probably will just not use much in the way of gaming services going forward. GFN does work (not nearly as well as Stadia and there are limitations depending on your needs) although I have yet to try it on Google TV. The controller side of that equation is going to be tougher for non-gamers like us to find a solid solution, in my opinion.

The Stadia controller does work pretty well as a wired one, I used it for a few GFN sessions the other day. Since its best feature was the cloud wireless connection that is being dismantled, this seems like the best use going forward. I definitely will keep and continue to use a few like this; Founders version till it dies, white ones after that, then wasabi and black. <sad face>
All potential contributing factors, quite possibly. Also pandemic. Also global economic factors. The list goes on.
I would hazard a guess it's not as many households as you think, thus part of the reason for shutdown.

Best game controllers I've ever used. They nailed the feel better than Nintendo; I wish I could play those games with Stadia controllers now! Alas
Perversely, I loaded up stadia.com this morning and found a Claim All for October's Pro games. I didn't expect it to work, but...now I can play those games too. Sigh

Even Google couldn't make Gaming on Linux work... Dunno, after all this it definitely seems Google is doing their customary "working with partners" and there is the (slow) initiative to get native Steam compatibility on their Chrome operating system. The Steam deck is certainly another avenue to bring games to more than just console and PC.
Toxic gamer life. It's the same with sports teams, now politics, etc. My way or the highway, everything else is garbage. Humanity, basically.
Less of Google and more of me just getting out of gaming entirely after this. Just not worth it when a service that worked so well was doomed to fail; I'd rather find another hobby to be honest.
I've seen this happen more often with a child account on the Google TV. Haven't been able to test much more lately, perhaps this weekend.
Definitely agree, I much prefer my subscriptions to be yearly. There is precedence with some of Google's other services too that have this option; hopefully they add it to Stadia Pro as well.
Agreed, these are recommended desktop-style machines that run Chrome. Another recommend is Asus that makes several models of Chromebox which you can pair to any style/size monitor as well.
