You can play with your phone, if compatible, or with any computer with a Google chrome browser. To play on TV, you will need to buy the controller and the Chromecast.
Those are awesome games. Totally recommended!
Hi! Take a look at this: https://9to5google.com/2020/01/02/stadia-controller-loud-trigger/
I received this email, but there isn't anything new on there. Just saying what are the January games and discounts
VR with stadia might not work very well because of latency. VR requires really low latency.
Also, as far as I know, you will need a stadia controller to play on Chromecast.
This udev rule fixes the problem! Thanks!

Stadia is  (for now) a good solution if: Want to play good graphics games and you don't have a powerful video-game to do so. (like me, I only had a Nintendo Switch) Want to play video-games everywhere in your house, or where you go ( that has a good internet connectivity! ) Loves technology and want to see what Linux + Vulkan dedicated data-center with a well optimized streaming service and a direct wi-fi game-pad can achieve. Stadia (for now) is not a good solution if you are looking for: Cheaper games, if you have other places to buy and play it (Steam, PS, XBOX, etc) 4K, 60 FPS gaming everywhere with better graphics than your super power computer/PS4 PRO/Xbox One X Play games in a slow and cheap shared wifi Play games on old computers (well, depending on the model it actually can work fine) A lot of game options to choose from
Also had issues with gamepad + google-chrome on Linux. Firefox seems to work much better, but Stadia does not work on Firefox. Also, Firefox does not support force feedback/vibration.

That is the good old problem for the lack of hardware video decode on Linux browsers that got worse with Stadia. Also, first you need to make sure your VGA supports VP8/9 decode on hardware: open nvidia-settings. X Screen 0 > VDPAU Information Look if VP8 or VP9 is on "Supported Codecs" Since your VGA is not that old, VP9 is probably supported, so you could try this trick to make it work: https://www.linuxuprising.com/2018/08/how-to-enable-hardware-accelerated.html For me that I have an old GTX680,  no VP8/9 support at all At least my screen is full HD only and my CPU can handle the software decode in this case.
I have this exactly same problem... but it´s not always not even everyday... but sometimes this happens!
Didn't tested myself, but someone posted this other day: https://stadiasource.com/article/144/How-to-get-Stadia-Working-on-Androids-Chrome-Browser
Maybe because it doesn't have promotional codes yet. For the pro free games they show in the phone app to redeem.

For sure, but maybe if there is some kind of optimization, maybe reducing video FPS on weaker hardware we could have a much better experience instead of pushing 60  FPS, a 30 FPS video will be a much less work for this cpu/gpu. This could also improve the experience in non optimized operating systems browsers (google-chrome vanilla on Linux) or no capable old computers (heard some people trying stadia on old macs) that needs to software decode the video.
That is awesome! I tried this yesterday and it didn't worked, it just played some random music in google play music for no reason . I will try it again

I've bought a very cheap chromebook this black friday, an Atom X5-E8000 with 2gb of ram. I didn't bought exactly to play Stadia, but I decided to give it a try. It works, but there are small hiccups happening all the time (sometimes even complain about the connection quality), GPU usage sometimes goes up to 95%, but normally stays at 60%, and CPU is always around 45%. The game resolution goes from FullHD (I think, since my screen is a bit lower resolution than FullHD) and sometimes lower. It is almost playable, and I think a bit of optimization could do the trick to make this cheap chromebook to actually play stadia games. It's not any network related issue, I think, because on the same network I play flawlessly on Chromecast, on MacBook and on my Linux PC.

Enabled here yesterday, it works fine, but I don't feel it to be very useful. Any ideas of the best "commands" you could use while gaming? Actually I would prefer if I could use my google home to play a game saying "Hey google, let's play destiny 2" and it turns on my controller, my TV, login my user and start the game.
Just to make it clear: You will not exactly get better sound. It will be a 5.1 sound. That means that it will support 5 speakers: 3 in the front (left, right and middle speakers) 2 in the back (... See more...
Just to make it clear: You will not exactly get better sound. It will be a 5.1 sound. That means that it will support 5 speakers: 3 in the front (left, right and middle speakers) 2 in the back (left and right surround speakers)  And 1 subwoofer. So you will only take advantage of the 5.1 sound if you have a similar setup correctly configured. If you have a traditional stereo setup, that most TVs, sound bar (even when it's 2.1 speaker set), headsets has, there will be no difference in sound.

I mostly like playing with gamepad + TV, but I also played with my Ubuntu and google-chrome downloaded from web (totally software rendered) and it works fine. Maybe because My screen is just Full HD, and Stadia optimizes it and don't stream 4k? Anyway, my PC is connected to my router with a gigabit cable, and it's a Core i5 third generation (don't remember exactly the model) with a GTX 680 + 16GB DDR3. My router is an ASUS RT AC66U.
