Hey @zpmertens, That's normal, once you have updated your payment method, it takes a few days until the refund arrives. In the meantime if you click the link in the email again, it will guide you to the message "You don't have any refunds right now", because you have already updated the payment method, so there's no outstanding issues with refunds anymore. So in your case I would simply wait a few days (if necessary wait also 1-2 weeks) and see if the payment arrives on your new payment method.

Hey @Jackie19, The link basically guides you to pay.google.com and you'll find a notification dot there in the top right corner, so you can also try to manually navigate to that webpage and fix the notification that way. If that doesn't help, try logging your Google acccount on pay.google.com out and in again, try again then. You can also try another browser or an incognito-window of your browser to see if maybe an extension interferes with it.

Hey @Lor, From your picture it looks like you're in the right spot. Pay.google.com is the right way to change your payment method (through the notification dot in the top right corner when a refund failed) or through the email-link you receive (but that one guides you to pay.google.com anyway). There's currently no other way to change the payment method for the Stadia refunds. So if you haven't received an email about your failed refunds (and no notification dot) then you need to wait a bit longer. If the refund is successful, contact the issuer of your payment method and check with them if they have received it. Otherwise yes you could contact the Stadia team, but they're super busy atm and they also can't magically make refunds appear, so best procedure currently is anyway to wait for the email or check the notifications on pay.google.com. Do I see it right from your picture also that you don't have a Google account and that's why you can't change your alternate payment method?

Ah that made it a bit more clear your picture. I have the same in my account for some purchases and the ones where it says "Refund declined" are the ones that failed to be refunded to the original payment method. So in that case you just need to wait for an email with a link to provide an alternate payment method (or keep an eye on pay.google.com for any notifications about failed refunds). Once the alternate payment method is provided and the refund is successfully processed, the state would probably change to "Refunded" in pay.google.com.

Hey @manub, Here is the contact form for the Stadia team, you see available options at the end, so I'm not sure if they actually offer email support at the time. But I would really recommend to contact them only as a last resort, since they're superbusy atm and most issues with the refunds are solved with patience so far. But if it comes closer to Jan 18, 2023 and you still didn't got the refund, then it's still possible to contact them. Just be aware they can't magically make the refund appear, so it's really a last ressource. ^^

Hey @Nico4, That's seems normal. It's possible that each transaction may take a different amount of time until it is processed to your new payment method. I am in the same situation, some purchases I got a refund for after providing the alternate payment method, but some I'm still waiting on. I believe we just need to have a bit patience here and double check if you didn't got it after like 2 weeks (like keep an eye on pay.google.com for any further notification or check your emails).

If your old payment method is no longer active @zpmertens, then the refund will fail and you will receive an email from Google with a link to provide them an alternate payment method. So that way you can then provide your new payment method. Changing it right now on pay.google.com will not influence the refund directly, since it's normal that Google first attempts to proceed with the refund back to your original payment method and only if that doesn't work, then you can provide an alternate. But it has to be through their email (if you never receive an email, you can also check on pay.google.com if you get any notification).

Did you also check the spam folder, bin, etc. to ensure a possible email from Google about providing an alternate payment method did not go in one of these? It's also possible that it just takes a long time until your refund fails and until the email arrives. Otherwise if the refund would be successful, then your bank should have it somehow. I'm not sure in your case how it works when the bank sends the money back, but I would assume it's working like a "refund failed" situation, so you would still get an email. But it's possible that it just takes a while until the bank sends the money back?! In any way, you could give it a bit more time and then check again with the bank if you still didn't got anything. Contacting the Stadia team atm is not recommendable since they're super busy and Google mentioned all refunds will be processed by Jan 18, 2023, so there's still time left.

Hey @manub, Yeah it's normal that you don't get a confirmation email after updating your payment method via the link in the email from Google. On my end I can also see that the ones for which I provided an alternate payment method on pay.google.com currently show "refund cancelled", but as far as I see it it probably means that the initial refund to the original payment method was not successful. So once you provide an alternate payment method, the refund should be initiated again, but that can take some days, worse it could also take 1-2 weeks until the second refund arrives (some of my refunds for which I provided an alternate payment method have already arrived, some not). I would say let's be patient and see if the money arrives now. If not, then you can still check with the bank if they got it somehow or wait either for another email or contact the Stadia team. But since they are super busy and Google mentioned they plan to refund every one by Jan 18, 2023, it probably just means we need to be patient a bit longer.

Hey @Karty, What exactly do you mean? Did you got an email with a link informing you that the refund has failed and you can provide an alternate payment method? If so, you can simply click the link, choose an alternate payment method and the refund will go its way. Otherwise you cannot update the payment method for the refunds on any other way currently if that's what you were trying. You have to wait for the email basically. If you don't receive any email, then it's possible the initial refund went through successfully in which case you can contact the issuer of your payment method and double check with them.

Hey @Hevski, Don't worry, it's normal that successful refunds are shown as a 0,00 transaction in Google Pay because it basically lists the charge. Since a refund means there is no charge, all of them are showing 0,00. You get a more detailed view of it when you click the transaction then you will see the original charge minus eventual discounts at the time minus the refund amount = 0,00. Once you have gotten the email about the refunds, give it 1-2 weeks. Either the refund is successful, then you can check your bank statements or check with the bank itself, otherwise if the refund fails you will get another email with a link to provide an alternate payment method. Once that is provided, it usually takes some days again (or max 1-2 weeks) until the refund arrives at your new payment method. So yeah, I'd recommend just be patient a bit longer, refunds should all be done by Jan 18, 2023, the latest.

Did you double check also spam folder, bin, etc. just to ensure that a possible email from Google did not went in one of these? The email is the only way to provide an alternate payment method currently if a refund fails. Otherwise you could double check with your bank if they somehow got the money even though the refund failed, it would be weird tbh, but at least you exhaust everything. Apart from that I guess you can only wait, Google mentioned they plan to process all refunds by Jan 18, 2023. So if you still didn't get your refund by then, you can also get in touch with the Stadia team, but at the moment they are super busy.

Hey @MiPlayer, From my personal experience it went like this: Got an email stating that I will get a refund for game X, Y and Z, etc. Refund went to old payment method (CC) that doesn't exist anymore, so 1.5 weeks later I received an email with a link to click to provide an alternate payment method. After a few more days (3-5 in my case) some refunds arrived on the new payment method, but some are still missing. So it all seems like there's definitely patience involved, but as long as you keep track of everything, I think it will be fine. If you already waited 2-3 weeks and you haven't got an email with the link for an alternate payment method, then it is possible that the refund was successful in the first place, in which case it would be good if you double check with the issuer of the payment method if the funds have arrived.

I will really miss Stadia, was so nice to play the games on any device, but since the platform will be gone soon, I will go fully to Steam then. All my other games are on there as well, so the ones I got on Stadia but will now be refunded, I will see to get again on Steam. Luckily Ubisoft just brought out AC Valhalla today on Steam and also with a discount, so technically I am even saving money now haha My PC is a good one and not too old so most games can be played on a decent graphic there. But I can see the point for all of you who don't have a good PC to rather think about getting a console or upgrading your PC. I think it's up to what you like the most, but I hope everyone of you finds a decent alternative now to go to.

Hey @DragoonMS2278, After you select the alternative payment method and click on "submit" there's a little window confirming that you've chosen it. So if you did this, then all you need to do now is wait and see if the money arrives in a few days (or worst 1-2 weeks) at your alternate payment method. There's no other way currently to see the choices again or to open the window again after you closed the window or clicked away the pop-up. But if you're unsure, you can click the link in the email again. If you then land again on pay.google.com but it tells you that nothing is to be done, then you know you did everything alright.

I believe the issue that you have (that only specific payment methods are given as alternative) could stem from the payments profile that you have. For example in pay.google.com if your profile is Austrian, I believe you would see Austrian available payment methods. It's indeed a bit weird that some purchases with PayPal could be refunded and some not, but since there was an issue with some purchases, that's now something only the alternate payment method could fix. Easiest may be if you have a credit card to use that one if the banks shown are not the ones you prefer. Or double check which payment profiles you have and if you live in Germany (physically) but your payment profile is Austrian, you could also consider changing it accordingly on pay.google.com to a German profile. I'm not sure what's exactly the case for you, but it's important that you have a payment profile in the country that you live in to use the payment methods of that country. And yeah using Austrian payment methods will most likely not be possible on a German payments profile.

You would need to wait then, if the bank has no record, then it's possible that the refund will fail at some point in which case you would receive an email from Google to provide an alternate payment method. These emails can sometimes take 1-3 weeks though. In the meantime the only thing you could do is check with the bank or check your bank statements to see if the refund arrives there at some point. If you haven't received your refund by Jan 18, 2023, you can also get in touch with the Stadia team, but they're currently super busy so that's not an option at the moment.

Hey @kira5z, When refunds are successfully processed, it's normal that you'll be able to see them as "0,00" in pay.google.com. If you click on the transaction you will see the original price (the one you paid) minus possible discounts minus the refund, which totals up to 0,00 (that means basically that you didn't pay anything for this transaction if you get what I mean, because it has been refunded). Can you double check also in your spam folder or bin in your email to see if the refund-email maybe went there? Apart from that I believe you can only wait and see what happens, the refunds should all be processed automatically and Google mentioned they will be done by Jan 18, 2023 with all of them, so it's possible that the refund-process just takes time. You can also keep an eye on your bank-statement to see if the refund arrives or double check with the bank if they got it somehow. If a refund would fail, you would get an email with instructions on how to set your alternate payment method, but it can take 1-2 weeks for a refund to fail.
