It never work for me. The app just crash after a few second when I hit play on the chromecast. On the TV, stadia is starting and display the code to connect the gamepad but without the game loading.

I'm having exactly the same problem for 2 weeks now. I have a galaxy s20+. It seems to be an android issue because I tried to launch the game on the chromecast with the phone of my roommate and it works. I already tried to clear cache, uninstall the app, reboot my phone and reset my phone and I'm using the last version of the app.
