Indeed, this was being discussed on the radio, before the Netflix announcement.  There was a discussion about people changing options on apps to lower quality of streamed content.  I was listening in, thinking about the amount of data used to stream 4K content through Stadia ....  I mean, its vastly more data I believe than a 4K movie ...

I recall seeing someone link the availability of google-preview on reddit, I think - and I then signed up with my account. I did the same with xcloud and it went very smoothly - I had access to the iOS app in a short period of time. When registering with Google Preview, it did have a tick box for "Stadia" as I recall.  I recall clicking it to express an interest in Stadia basically, for the Google Preview. With that said, other than confirming my registration, I have not received anything else from Google since then, such as an invite to trial an app via Test Flight. I suspect nothing has been released yet.

Well, I cancelled my pro subscription a week or so ago. Whilst I am convinced by the tech, I am not convinced with the service on offer.  I made a decision a while back that if - by the time my 3 months were up - nothing had been introduced to improve the service from my perspective - I would cancel. At the moment, my experience with Stadia has remained near-enough the same as day one.  I had hoped by the time my trial was up I would have access to the games via Chrome at better than 1080p resolution, or the ability to stream on my iOS devices.  With neither of those being available yet, and with iOS seemingly quite a while away I would guess, I cannot justify the subscription.   I know Stadia is going to be perfect for some people, even in its current form - but it isnt for me at the moment.  The door is open though and I am sure I will renew it depending on improvements to the service or games on pro that I am actually interested in.

I think its quite telling that, whilst still in beta, xCloud already have a beta app to stream games to iOS devices.  I just tried it - you only have access to the one game (Halo Collection) ... but it works **bleep** well. I am already a big fan of gamepass ... so the idea of being able to stream those games to all my devices?  That is pretty awesome really. Well, its not just awesome - its a bit of a game-changer if you ask me.  I already use gamepass on my PC, on my Xbox occasionally ... being able to use it on my phone, iPad and TV?  Yes please.  Its a shame that whilst Stadia appeared to have a headstart, there hasnt been much movement on the devices you can stream to at this time.

A number of other companies offer opt-in to beta releases for those willing to accept the bugs and issues that may arise.  I seem to recall Apple do this with their iOS because I remember having an early release of a recent iOS update. I just wonder whether two problems Google may have doing this would be the stability of Stadia betas and the infancy of the tech?  It may be just that little too "rough around the edges" to warrant a public beta opt-in perhaps?  Its not like Google have a decade of past experience with the tech/software etc. to rely upon.

You may not agree with the OP, but the responses to his post were uncalled for and labelling him a troll, in my eyes, unjustified. If this is any indication as to how "critics" of the service will be treated or those folks wishing to, IMHO, bring valid comparisons to other streaming services in the market place up for discussion, well ... good luck fostering that community lol I certainly will think twice before voicing any concerns or suggestions I have on these forums from now on.

Personally speaking - I have been disappointed with how "dead" the stadia store page is.  I do check it most days and seeing nothing new, no new deals, no new games for an extended period of time -and it hardly inspires confidence. With that said, I read that reddit post and didnt agree with it entirely.  I knew what we were signing up to - a product that was still in development.  To expect the wish-list of features in place or set to a time table within less than 70 days of release is a tad over optimistic.

I was hoping that they hadnt realised details of the Feb' games, as they were planning on providing that information alongside a bigger post - confirming the plans regarding stadia-base.  You would have thought now was the time to get that in motion, considering there are going to be quite a few folks cancelling their pro-sub soon, when the 3-months are up.  We will see though I guess.

As others have said above me, just make sure you havent got any TV settings on that could be causing the issue.   I had this on my TV.  I had something enabled that improved the framerate - but at the expense of input lag (I think the TV adds in its own frames to make the image look smoother).  Forcing "game-mode" disabled those settings that are not condusive to gaming, like this - and the input lag was back to normal for me.

CCU has become my personal default way to watch netflix, prime, and youtube on my TV. I have a 2018 Sony TV, but - frankly put, I havent been impressed with the smart features on the TV itself- they are buggy, dont always start, etc. It has been far easier, since I got my CCU, just to grab my phone and click the "cast" button. Its quicker too, by a country mile. TV doesnt even need to be on as it wakes-up in the CCU when I hit the cast button. I do miss an on-TV-screen menu though.

Yes, this creates a bit of a pickle for Stadia, and has always been in the back of my mind, too. I had assumed that playing Stadia through chromecast + controller could feasibly  cross play with other console users (PS4/XBO) without much issue ... but it gets in a muddle in my mind when you think about those Stadia players via Chrome ...  its a two fold problem really.  Going against those with high end PCs, cheaters etc ... but conversely, if cross playing with console users - well you have a mouse and keyboard vs. their joypad ... yeah, messy basically.  Perhaps why we get cross play in games like Farm Simulator and not Destiny 2 ... lol

Quite a few miss-steps by Google, all told. Honestly, I expect a big pivot regarding the actual product they are selling by the time its more widely available.   Frankly put, Stadia is so niche at the moment - its basically for those with *very specific requirements* and/or early adopters out there that just enjoy trying new tech (like me). I cannot see Stadia in its current form (and following the current pricing plan / service offerings) winning over your average consumer.  I wonder if Google has reached that conclusion too, already, and perhaps this accounts for the radio silence (which is somewhat deafening at the moment!)?

Long story short, the falling population doesn't simply point towards dwindling interest in Stadia IMHO. It just points out that D2 perhaps wasnt the ideal "launch title". Picking a game that requires an active player base ... and limiting our population to founders and early-adopters was a bad idea. Those that werent interested in D2 walked away. That that WERE interested in D2 run out of things to do due to the low player base

I enjoyed returning to D2 - and invested quite a bit of time into it on Stadia ... but I hit a wall, where I needed to consistently find other players to run pve or pvp content ... that became untenable due to the clearly low player base.  I thus walked away from it, which was a real shame as its come on quite a way since I last played the game. I am sure there are a lot of people in my situation too.    If ever there was a game calling out for cross play, this was it.

Google stadia great tech that works better than I could have imagined, but the package Google are selling us is weak.  The pro subscription needs to pivot to provide more value for money.  At the moment, the subscription is a levy.  Its not a service.  It needs to pivot and offer substantially more - some suggestions? (a) pro subscription gives you the ability to download on PC (truly giving you all options to play the games you pay for in any circumstance (long-term goal, I admit)* (b) a better game library.  Sign up today and get access to all pro games - not just the ones you previously "claimed" and that are available that given month.  Start to build up a vault of games, Google! (c) tie-ins.  Do what Amazon has done.  You sign up to this, and you get that thrown in!  Its a lot easier to swallow a pro membership, if it comes with, say, access to google music (and having google music integrated with Stadia too, akin to Spotify on PS4).  You have the resources.   As I said, Stadia works better than I could have imagined.  I took my CCU and Controller with me when I visited family over Xmas, and it worked like a dream both on their TV and on my laptop.    It truly is the future - but Google need to step up their game with what they offer under their "pro membership", especially when their rivals start to get serious about streaming. I should add that I also think Google knows what they are doing.  If Google came in to the streaming scene, all guns blazing - making a pro membership a no-brainer, I suspect they would have concerns as to whether they can handle it at their end - the last thing they need is more bad press relating to the service.

Just in case someone else ever has the same issue - last night I noticed the volume for Stadia was extremely low and no matter what I did with my TV settings it wouldnt improve. It transpires, during a previous session, I had streamed you-tube from my phone to the CCU, and used the volume controls on the phone to reduce the same. It seems these settings carried on over to Stadia itself (obviously, I guess) but I could see no obvious way to increase it from within Stadia itself - I am probably missing something obvious. Anyway, I ended up having to reopen Youtube, link it again to my CCU and then increase the volume. I am sure there is another way of doing it - if not there probably should be, but - in case you have a similar issue - perhaps check!
