Hi all, How do you guys connect your Chromecast, are you plugging directly into your receiver like me, or plugging into the TV? I spoke to Google support and they said that to use Surround Sound you have to have eARC which is a HDMI 2.1 feature. I then stated that I plug the Chromecast into my receiver and do not use eARC or ARC. To me plugging into the TV and using ARC is a backwards type setup. My receiver can decode all modern formats and pass on both HDR and 4K which it does without issue. I think the issue is that when launching a game, Stadia forgets to refresh the signal to say its 5.1 so the receiver doesn’t know. I would imagine this is an easy fix as I don’t have any issues with any other equipment. The issue I take with all my resent communication with Google help is that they are super militant in their thinking and are unwilling to actually problem solve problems beyond the dialog tree they have in front on them.
Hi, Could anyone who has the game tell me what the framerate is? 30 at both 4K and 1080p? I am considering buying the game but if it has a 60fps mode available.

Hi all, I started playing Strange Brigade tonight, 4K HDR 5.1 on the CCU, every so often I would see a pop up that I haven’t seen with any other game on the screen saying the game may stop due to an unstable connection. I looked in the google nest app and the CCU was making out my 60Mbps internet connection at around 59Mbps, I haven’t seen the usage so high before? I know you need at least 40Mbps for 4K but haven’t had issues with any other games using so much bandwidth. Any ideas or is that just what happens with this game?

I posted a comment earlier on this thread but it vanished, having just got to Prometheus and trying to do missions there it’s horrible to play, stuttering all over the place with textures taking a day to load. Unplayable for me so I’m calling it quits on Borderlands there.

I like the look of the game on Stadia, the HDR pops and the game feels responsive at 1080p/60. At 4K it looks even better but feels sluggish and I would be hesitant to say it’s achieving 30fps. I have probably put about 8 hours into the game so far, I will not be buying the game after the free weekend. The reason I got on board with Stadia is that I was tired of having to wear headphones when playing games on the Xbox One X or PS4 Pro just to be able to hear the audio due to the poor cooling on those devices and also the constant game updates etc. Borderlands on Stadia hitches and stutters in combat, the game textures take forever and a day to load in. Sometimes the game looks like it has clay textures for far too long. I would put up with this if it was a Pro game that was part of the subscription but I’m not going to pay £25 to support the game when it seems unoptimised on Stadia hardware. How can the textures load so slow on this kind of hardware, they are faster on both Xbox and PS4 which both have dog slow HDDs.

Having just rebooted the chromecast to regain 5.1 rather than stereo, it is as though the chromecast doesn’t inform the amp of the 5.1. After reboot it starts of in Stereo, then I launch Metro Redux you see the amp change to 5.1 as it gets the signal. Somehow this isn’t being passed after the first time, could just be a Denon issue.
Anyone else get this come up when the game is actually playing fine, sometimes I look at the connection and it is playing fine but days the above message. This is at 4K HDR 5.1?
Did you manage to fix this I have exactly the same issue, is your receiver a Denon? I have a X2300W. I have to reboot every time like you say to get the 5.1 back instead of 2.0

Hi, I bought the premiere edition of Stadia after trying it through my PC via Chromecast. 1080p has worked perfectly for me on my 60Mbps connection. However since getting the premiere edition and trying to play Odyssey on my 4K HDR TV with 5.1 I get a lot of hitching that isn’t on 1080p. I have a ASUS AC86U and the Chromecast is wired into my Ethernet via a switch. I have tried various QOS types available on the router, Cake, FlexQOS and QOS turned off. I’ve made sure that there is nothing else accessing the router at the same time but still the hitches remain. The connection status remains excellent throughout but I still see the hitches at 4K. I have rebooted the Chromecast and router, I have a steady 60Mbps connection, is this not enough for stable 4K HDR 5.1? Anything else I can try?
