You can't start now. You need an account and you need hardware, and Google just refunded everyone, so you're not going to be able to get any of those things now.

@BRACELETme_SVS I know you said you think Luna is bad. It's definitely NOT Stadia, but I thought it was OK. The other thing about Luna, I posted this on the main page as a separate post, Ubisoft is giving everyone the PC version of your Stadia Ubisoft titles in your Ubisoft Connect account. Amazon Luna said that they will make games from Ubisoft connect available to play on Luna at no "extra" charge. Meaning if you pay for Amazon Prime and have Luna access, or if you don't have Prime but you are paying the Luna subscription fee, then there's no extra charge. You don't have to have Ubisoft+ or anything.  So at least you wouldn't have to rebuy those games and you still have a streaming option. It's not great, but it's an option.

I know a lot of people are trying to figure out what to use when Stadia is fully dead. In recent news, there are 2 things that people should keep in mind, and take advantage of: 1) Ubisoft started adding any games you OWNED on Stadia to your Ubisoft Connect account. They're not notifying people, and they're not sending codes to redeem. They're just adding the games for you. So go check your Ubisoft Connect account and you should have downloadable PC versions of your Stadia Ubisoft titles. I got ALL my Ubisoft titles that I bought on Stadia put into my Ubisoft Connect account and I didn't do anything or reach out to anyone, and the correct versions (AC Odyssey Ultimate, AC Origins Gold, Immortals Fenyx Gold, AC Valhalla Ragnarok, and more).  2) Amazon Luna says you will be able to play any Ubisoft PC titles you own on Luna, so that's an option for folks who don't have a PC or console. Now for #1, you need to make sure that your Stadia account is/was linked to your Ubisoft Connect account For #2, you need to make sure your Amazon Gaming account is linked to your Ubisoft Connect account, and for Amazon Luna, if you're NOT an Amazon Prime member, then you'd need to be paying the Luna subscription fee. If you are a Prime member, then access is no extra charge. I hope this helps some folks!!! I had a LOT of failed refunds, including to a bank that was closed down like yours. I know for software, it took weeks (maybe 4 or 5 weeks) after the refund was declined before I got emails to fix payment methods. With my hardware it was much faster, maybe a week or less. So if you haven't gotten it, keep looking for it to come. Unfortunately, Google and Stadia support don't really seem to want to answer a lot of questions about the refunds, because they feel like it's too many people to deal with and they think they're doing the best they can. It stinks when it's not working though. But keep checking for an email from them for the refunds that failed.

@jsc315 I'm hoping to keep this thread on topic, meaning what are people planning to do next. But I would encourage you to check out some of the other refund threads and see how others are dealing with this issue. Also, if you haven't checked, you should go to pay.google.com and see if you got refunds that were declined. I had A WHOLE BUNCH of purchases, and EVERYTHING they promised to refund was refunded. I have been with Stadia for the full 3 years, so a lot of my refunds got declined because they were old payment methods. I got emails from Google for all of those, and they have all been fixed and I got the refunds... except my Founder's bundle. But I got the email to fix the payment method for that yesterday, so the refund should be coming soon. If you haven't gotten ANYTHING and you actually bought hardware and games, that's weird. So you should check pay.google.com to make sure you don't have any declined refunds, and then check your email for messages from Google asking you to fix the payment method.

I guess since we know Stadia is shutting down, and we have a whole bunch of refund threads, I wanted to ask... What do you guys plan to turn to now? For people like me who were actually using Stadia as your main gaming platform, are you going to (or going back to) PC... Xbox, PlayStation ... something else??? Or are you screwed and can't really afford to go to anything right now? For me, I actually spent quite a bit of money on Stadia games... more than I even realized. So after talking to some friends, I decided to buy a PS5. My Stadia refunds covered the cost of the PS5 (Digital Only, GOW Ragnarok Edition), and about 4 or 5 major games that I wanted to make sure I got so I can have stuff to play. It also covered the cost of the PlayStation+ membership for a year. So that's what I ended up doing. I have a PC, but the graphics card is a 1660 ti. Which can handle some of the older games barely. But the newer games would be tough. And it doesn't have a ton of storage for game downloads. Buying a decent gaming PC didn't feel right, and would've definitely cost more than a console. I have Xbox and PlayStation friends, and just went with PS after talking to all of them. So... what are you guys planning to do (or have already done) before this whole thing gets SHUT DOWN?!

It's supposed to say zero. When you guys see that all it is saying is the total (left over) is zero. So if you paid $59.99 for CP 2077, it shows $59.99, then -$59.99 represents your refund, and the balance is zero. If it says refunded, then go look for that $59.99 in your account. It should say under the refund what account it was refunded to. Look at my example. I paid for CP2077, they refunded it. Refund went to PayPal. (It actually went THROUGH PayPal to a closed bank account. But the bank sent it back to my PayPal balance, and I was able to transfer it to a current account. If it says "Refund Declined" then keep your eye out for an email to your Stadia email address. They will ask you to update the payment method to get your refund. Stadia Refund example

But they don't send you any kind of notification that the update worked and they're going to process the refunds again, so I guess we just can only wait and see.

@TheAnnouncerthey'll eventually send you a separate email for every transaction that failed. When you go into any one of them it will take you to a page to update the payment method for the refund. It took me almost 2 weeks to get the emails, and then there was a glitch during the update, so I have no idea if it worked, because they don't email you to say anything like "Thanks for updating your payment method, we will process your refunds again". So I'm just waiting now, as it's been a couple of days. But they will send you an email, it just takes a while.

@jsc315it took me almost 2 weeks after the failed refund to get my emails. When they send you the emails you should get the choice to update the payment method for the refund at that time. I did the process, but my screen just kept spinning for about 20 minutes after I did the update. Then when I refreshed all it said is "You have no refunds". So I don't know if it worked or failed, but all my listed refunds that previously failed, just disappeared. They don't send you a new email to say "Hey we got your update, and will process your refunds again". And so far (it's been 2 days) they haven't refunded them yet to the new payment method I added. So it's just a waiting game, and no updates from Google to let you even know it worked. It really stinks.

@Ivan So now I guess I have to wait and see what happens. The PROCESS was easy enough. I clicked on one of the emails and it told me to select a new payment method (from my saved Google Pay methods). I did, and it had all the failed refunds listed and checked, and I hit OK. But then my screen went into a spiral for about 20minutes, and never stopped. When I refreshed, it said I have no refunds pending, lol. So I will see if they show up on my new payment method in the next day or 2. Also still keeping my eye out for a refund of my Founder's Edition. But other than that, IF these ones actually go through, I think that I will have everything. I did have to track down a lot of them and make several calls to PayPal and to one of my banks and stuff though. It has been a headache.
They say "Refund Declined" on my actual Google Play activity screen. However, the emails (8 of them) came in overnight last night. So I am about to check those now and see what I am supposed to do.

The refunds are going to be a problem, and you might have to do some checking and chasing to make sure you get everything. One thing someone posted that was MOST useful to me was the pay.google.com link. This is the BEST link for seeing all of the activity, all of the items they marked as refunded, and most importantly if you click on the transaction the information opens up on the sidebar so you can see WHERE they refunded it to. I have some that right now just say "Refund Declined" so I am hoping Google will contact me about those.

I have about 7 or 8 refunds that were declined for this same reason. So I am waiting to see what they do. Fortunately, most of my purchases that I did through the bank with ANOTHER closed bank account, went through PayPal instead of straight to the bank. So when the bank declined the refunds, the money bounced back into my PayPal balance. But I still have those 7 or 8 that went straight to another bank account that has been closed for like 2 1/2 years. So I'm waiting to see if Google contacts me about those.

I'm laughing at how I got scolded, but there's so many people having the same problem. So far, since I DID overreact in the beginning,I will say that it is working out better than I expected. I DO STILL have a number of refunds that were "Declined" from a closed account, and I'm waiting to see the hardware refund come eventually for my Founder's bundle. But MOST of my money has found its way back to me. I will keep looking to see what happened with those declined refunds. Hopefully Google will email me or send it to my most recent active payment method.
I just noticed the same thing, but I see @JohnZoidberg answered. So I will keep looking out for that to be refunded.

Thanks, at least this let me see the actual status transactions, and you didn't present it as a grandparent scolding somebody, lol. For the record, I have a whole bunch of transactions on the list that show as declined. So I will keep an eye out for an email on how they're going to refund them. They were sent to a bank account that is closed and to a debit card that was linked to that account too. Some went via PayPal to the same bank. Some also went to a different bank card for an online banking company that no longer does banking!  Also for the record in response to the other dude, since unfortunately I am a poor slob who doesn't work in the banking industry, so I guess I don't love it and how wonderfully it functions the way he does... I CONTACTED the bank, after 20 minutes on with their representative, they said they needed to put me on with a supervisor because they weren't sure exactly what would happen with the funds from PayPal. The supervisor told me the funds would revert back to my PayPal account, and when I contacted PayPal support, they told me the bank would issue me a check if the accounts were closed, lol. So I guess everyone in the banking industry must not be as smart as @Genrader the genius.  At minimum, I'm going to spend a lot of time chasing my refunds down to account for everything. I suspect there are going to be many other people doing the same. I've always supported Stadia from day on, through all the complainers who said the platform was dead from the start. I won't support the way they handled this refund mess, just trying to kick everything back to the original payment method to people who have spent years on the platform. You're telling me Google couldn't run a bot to tell them how much they owe a user in refunds, and simply refund it to the most recent active payment method?  In any case, I do thank you (and gave you kudos) for your post @WickedDope . I'll admit I panicked, and should've read more carefully. But I also am not as confident as you guys that I will get all of the refunds intended for me, at least not as magically easily as it is made to sound. Especially after my follow-up between the bank and PayPal where they each basically said the other would handle the refund. And yes, I spoke to actual humans at both institutions, not chatbots. As I said both a representative AND a supervisor at the bank, and also a representative at PayPal. And that was just FIVE of 50+ transactions that show as refunded for me, about 30 of which went to accounts that no longer exist.

So Google has asked people not to contact them about refunds and now I know why. If you've used different payment methods, they are refunding your stuff separately to those payment methods, making it almost impossible to track all your refunds if you've been using the service for the full 3 years. In several instances they are refunding my stuff to a closed bank account. They should have simply calculated people's refunds, and sent the money back to whatever your last active payment method was.  So far I have had to check 3 different places for refunds that came back, and the amount is NOWHERE near the total amount of hardware and software purchases I've made. So now I'm stuck trying to match each transaction to each purchase I made, and even when I do that... Google has asked people not to contact them about refunds. So what am I supposed to do?

It's not anything they can help with here. I "own" AC Origins Gold Edition. Purchased it when it was on sale. Due to a mix-up that had nothing to do with Stadia, but instead with the Google Rewards team, it was marked as refunded by the Stadia team. That was not a problem, because it wasn't refunded, and I never lost access to the game, but I told them about it when this happened in July I think. I've been back and forth since then even sending video to prove I can still play the game. But they haven't corrected it.  But now with Stadia shutting down and us either getting actually refunded, or Ubisoft helping us transfer our games to PC, I need it to be reflected properly, because they said they're using our purchase history for those things. Well if my purchase history says refunded, I'm sure they're gonna screw that up and I won't get refunded OR be able to transfer my game via Ubisoft. But they haven't fixed it. And they're not even responding anymore even though I have an open case.

I guess reaching out to Stadia support is useless now. I've had an open case for over a month now, and it's been weeks since the last feedback from them. I messaged again over a week ago, and nobody is following up at all. I guess those folks are too worried about whether the shutdown means they're out of a job, to be thinking about answering support cases.
