@flx At launch day the red dead online population was tiny.  It's now pretty decent in my opinion. Gameplay of red dead feels great, game looks great, albeit they say it's not true 4k.

@Greenhill  I think you're missing what I'm saying. Stadia definitely supports cross-play. It is up to the developers to build it into their games, this is the case with ALL platforms.  Since Stadia from day 1 has been encouraging developers to build in cross-play, you can expect it will be a feature of games in the future on Stadia. What I was saying is that with Stadia, Google likely wants developers to use their stadia servers to host the games for cross play. That would give Google the ability to continue enhancing the games for stadia players.  There is also no technological reason stadia players couldn't play on another server hosted off of Stadia but it would not give Stadia players the same level of performance.

Thank you for the clarity. This is a good update. You do need to be clear about the way claiming works. People seem confused about whether games for past months will be available to new subscribers. I believe based on the claiming mechanism and past comments new subscribers will not get access to past months games. Pro subscribers whose subscription lapses do not get games from months they did not have pro, when they resubscribe. This is an incentive to stay subscribed.

Stadia games the servers are in the stadia infrastructure. It enables extremely minimal latency from game client to server for all stadia players as stadia players are basically playing on a lan network. It is technologically possible for other platforms to connect to stadia servers for cross play. That said Google may not have any game developers doing that yet as it likely would require heavily modifying the versions of the game for other consoles. Google likely though would not want Stadia players to play on non Stadia hosted servers as they would lose the performance enhancements they can make.
The most important suggestion is make sure your monitor or tv has game mode turned on Makes a dramatic difference for most users.

Guys it was somewhat confirmed in an interview with John Justice some games may choose to only support certain peripherals. To start though Google wanted to get as many games to work across screens as they can, because it's a compelling feature to be able to swap screens at the ready. And regarding pc games red dead and destiny are PC games as well. Orcs Must Die, as far as i remember is only PC. You also have to realize the peripherals you use are not indicative of the platform with Stadia. Stadia is more comparable to a PC than a console. The characterization of if something is PC is completely irrelevant anyways with Stadia. If you want to play with a keyboard and mouse you can. The only negative right now for PC is that for some odd reason its locked to 1080p If you want proof on the peripherals thing. Here's a couple hints open a game in the stadia store it lists supported peripherals. If all games would support all. Then itd make no sense to include.

Got it working. Went into developer settings changed usb setting to data and charge. The other key is the Stadia controller must be off and if you use a usb to usb c converter then you have to have that in the phone side not the controller side worked pretty well once connected.
Yes, didn't seem to have any effect. Tried even biting up the controller at different points in time. Like when the game requests a conteoller or before or after opening the app. No effect
I'm having this issue as well. Pixel 2 XL with usb c cable connecting to phone. Phone doesnt recognize controller
