Yeah just to add, if you are playing Destiny 2 through the pro sub then you already have access to the current expansions, you don't have to buy them. This may change for future Pro subscribers...

@TekoRaiK a very interesting post. I think you are right about the the problem that some people are seeing with desktop gaming is the way that the Stadia client is running under Chrome.  I can run Stadia on a high end laptop with no problems (after disabling mouse acceleration). On my Dell 11 3120 Chromebook (through a USB Ethernet port) I get this (tested in Destiny 2): Sanding still, good graphics and very low lag when firing a gun (<100ms) Moving with keyboard, very fluid and good graphics and slightly increased lag when firing (but still pretty low, maybe 150ms) Moving with the mouse, stuttering graphics, high lag (maybe 400+ ms) I think the stadia client or chrome is not handling sending packets very well, especially when there are lots of updates to send (such as moving the mouse). That ties in with the improvement people getting when lowering the mouse polling rate. I think the client or chrome has a to get a balance between the priority it puts on sending and receiving. This is a big problem they must solve before rolling out the base product, as it needs to work out of the box else people will dismiss it.
@Josh261995 yes you can play any game with just keyboard/mouse on a chrome browser. That is the magic of staida

Then why don't you buy Football Manager now while you have access to the store through your Pro subscription, then allow your subscription to lapse, but you will still be able to play Football Manager as you own it, and I presume still be able to purchase other games.  It is like a shortcut to the freebase. I am assuming as you are here you are a Pro subscriber either as an early adopter or because you got a buddy pass, but I could be wrong...
stadia isn't a console, so I wouldn't compare a beta on stadia to a beta on the Xbox! Anyway, this forum seems quite hostile. Sorry if I have a contrary view.

My main point was that having an open Beta channel solves much of the communication complaints. I agree they need to solve many of the technology issues, but having the best technology does not mean you are guaranteed to win, look at Betamax v VHS, look at Sony's digital walkman which had by far the best sound quality yet it lost to the Apple iPod which had a so so sound quality but a great user experience. User experience is king, and that sits at so many levels. My big fear is that Stadia won't catch the imagination of the target audience, sales will stagnate and Google will let it fade away, this has happened many times with Google before.  This, in my opinion, would be a huge shame.

I am loving the Stadia gaming experience in general, I think Google have done wonders with the technology to give a lag free experience when playing a game on a server. However, what dents this is the consumer experience in terms of communications, with a very low level of updates from Google, and a lack of information in the updates we get.  What we want to know is that the issues we see, and the features we want, ARE being worked on.  Consumer perception is everything. Other companies tackle this using a Beta channel.  This has two purposes, it gives visibility of what fixes/features are being worked on, it allows consumers to test those fixes and preview features, and it gives a great way for Google to test things in the wild without risking the stable channel. For the Chrome version of stadia this would be as simple as having a beta link at the top of the landing page, so users could easily switch between stable and beta. For the App, well the play store has beta capability built in! What I would love to have visibility on, and would love to test, or in for the first one know if google are even working on it: Fixes for the lag some people see when playing through Chrome (my Del 11 3120 chromebook is too laggy to play, I am considering getting a chromebox but I am worried I might get one that doesn't work that well with Stadia) The ability to play on my non Pixel phone The ability to use the controller in wireless mode when playing through chrome/phone 4K through Chrome Honestly, so much of the moaning I read about Stadia is about lack of updates and communication, that should be simpler to remedy than any technical problems! This is meant to be a positive post btw, I am a massive supporter of Stadia, and would love to see it executed even better!

I guess the question then is how should they handle it, Don't make any game free that any pro subscriber has purchased? Only make games free from the start and never offer them for sale (in which case they would unluckily ever offer the big games for free)? I understand your pain, I just struggle to see how Google can handle it differently. As others have said, maybe this will problem will go once there are more titles available and so it will happen less often.

I have a similar problem in a Dell 11 Chromebook (3120). Now that is quite an old Chromebook, but I was hoping to be able to play on it. I have tried everything, all the chrome flags and settings, I have a USB Ethernet adapter, track pad v mouse v controller, nothing takes away the bad lag (not seen on a laptop or CCU so I know my internet connection is sound). Now, it does seem to respond better to the keyboard, and animations look very smooth, so I think it is somehow related to how chrome is processing the mouse/controller input and sending that to the server. I do wonder if it will work well when the controller supports playing in Chrome wirelessly so the Chromebook is bypassed for dealing with input and upload. Won't fully solve things as I prefer to play with mouse/keyboard but would be a start. Have you tried playing on a chromium based browser, such as brave?

I think people who are unhappy make more noise whereas this who are content are just busy enjoying themselves, so I don't believe most people are unsatisfied. However I do agree that Google trends to concentrate far more on the core technology and less on the frilly customer care. There needs to be a balance, people want a total experience as they want a system they can love, you need the technology and you need the care and the sense of community, come in Google employ someone who can handle that side!

Stadia is working great for me.  I like being able to play the same game on either a PC or on the TV depending on what I want to get out of it (or if the TV is free in my busy household!). No messing with settings, no long downloads, and I am amazed at the performance. Would always be nice to have more free games, but to be honest I don't have time to play them all anyway, maybe just have a bit more diversity (would love a driving game). Even Farming Simulator has its place, my daughters love to drive round the town, easy gaming for them I don't know why Google hasn't cooked up a couple of arcade classics to play, Space Invaders anyone? What I don't understand is why much of the tech press seems out to get Stadia.  Before it was launched, it was all "the lag will be awful" now lag is just not an issue (if you have a good internet connection) they seems to be looking for anything else to moan about. Maybe they are worried if everyone can play things without fuss people wont need reviews of the latest graphics cards etc? *Shrug*

The developers will be trying to maximise their income.  If they look at Stadia now they see only a few games available, so they can max the price and know that some people will still buy.  At some point in the future, when there are more games available, or sales of their games start to stall, I am sure they will lower their prices.  Sucks for sure, this is supply and demand sadly. What can we do about it?  Not much, apart from not buy the excessively priced games and hopefully get them to reduce prices sooner.  However if no one buys the games they might stop developing for the platform at all! It is like a giant game of chicken... As for them having to cover the costs of porting, well I imagine that the costs of porting are a fraction of the costs of developing the game in the first place!

When you were playing without the CCU, were you using mouse and keyboard? My thinking is, when you are watching YouTube videos the data is pretty much all download, when using the CCU the data to that is download and the controller handles the upload. When using the PC with mouse and keyboard, the PC is handling both upload and download. A lot of people have solved Stadia issues on the PC by reducing the mouse polling rate from 1500 down to 100, that could be worth a go? What I am thinking is that trying to send 1500 individual packets every second might be causing disruption to the network connection, maybe packet loss goes up or something? Anyway, worth a try and let us know if that changes anything.
