A real shame, I still think Stadia is amazing, and my kids love playing some of the more kid friendly Pro games, they will be sad Thanks for the hard work from the Stadia team, shame it has come to and end, hope you all find other roles inside Google (or outside of Google) Been a Pro subscriber since day 1, I sure will miss that great library of games I have been amassing, still got many I have not found the time to play but thought I would one day... oh well
Well done on making a great suggestion that is being enacted by Stadia! I really hope this goes live, and i really hope it supports m/kb!!  (Playing with m/kb on my TV would be fantastic)
That is how I see it too.  The tech lives on (maybe, if they can sell it) but Stadia limps on and eventually dies

I think this is a real possibility. Now it is often pointed out (correctly) that lag between moving your head and the image changing is critical in VR, so people say cloud based VR is unlikely. Imagine stadia generating an 8k video stream with a large FOV.  The headset then renders a fraction of this, responding very quickly to movement of the headset by sliding the "window" to be rendered across the 8k stream.  The 8k stream just plays catch-up. This would give very fast response to a users head moving as long as it didn't move too fast and fall outside of the generated FOV.  And because the headset isn't generating the video but just concentrating on motion and moving the video, it could be snappier than current local VR systems.
People have reported that it "works" if you sideload the stadia app. Amazing it doesn't have support out of the box

Stadia looks great on my 4k TV, and I love using m/kb.  Why can't we control the game on a laptop/chromebook and so use m/kb, but get the game to cast to a CCU?  And I don't mean just share the laptop/chromebook screen, I mean proper 4K casting like Netflix, or in fact, like the stadia controller does!  Surely this would be really simple to implement?

I am pretty convinced this is about how stadia handles sending updates back to the server.  You have a massive data stream coming down to your computer with the graphics which stadia needs to decode and display, and stadia also needs to find time and low bandwidth to send mouse/kb back to the server.  Gaming mice have very high polling rate, I think stadia is trying to send an update every time it gets a signal from the mouse, which seems to swamp the system in many cases. A cheaper mouse has a lower polling rate so less updates, less load on the system. I wonder why stadia can't collect all the mouse info and send back at 60Hz to match the screen refresh... Now about 3 weeks ago stadia started to work perfectly on my old chromebook with m/kb, but now it has gone stuttery again, I don't know if this is because of a change in stadia or in the chromeOS.  I live in hope one day all will be smooth

Yes it is very annoying.  A few weeks ago I found I could play Stadia on my very old chromebook (Dell 11 3120) with M/KB even through wifi, whereas in the past it was always very jerky.  Then about a week ago, it become unplayable again, lots of button presses missed, very jerky. I wish the stadia team could get a seat on the google chrome team to make sure they don't break our marvellous but frustrating game platform.

Have you solved this yet? I have a similar set up and I have a couple of suggestions. First off, this works for me: Laptop > Ethernet > Switch > Ethernet > Garage Wifi point > Ethernet > Powerline Adapter > Mains > Powerline Adapter > Ethernet > Switch > Ethernet > Primary Wifi point When I had both the laptop and the garage wifi point plugged into the switch which was then directly connected to the powerline adapter, it didn't work.  One thing to watch out for, is that your controller is not connected/connecting to the wrong wifi point. If the wifi signal in your bedroom from your primary wifi point is visible, the controller might connect to that (I had issues when my two wifi points were too close). This is especially true if you have your controller turned on near the primary wifi point then walk to your bedroom and don't restart it. Now really it shouldn't matter which wifi point it is connected to, sounds like a bug that google needs to sort out between stadia and the wifi team....

Hi, I found something interesting with my google wifi (1st Gen).  To link the wifi controller to my laptop/chromebook when they are on ethernet, I needed that ethernet connection to go through the wifi point I was connecting to. So, this DIDN'T work: modem -- Google wifi (master) -- switch -- google wifi (mesh)  -- controller                                                                 -- Laptop   But this DID work: modem -- Google wifi (master) -- switch -- google wifi (mesh)  -- controller                                                                                                    -- Laptop   As an aside, what aus chromebox 3 model do you have, and how well does it run stadia?  I am thinking of getting the i5 model to run stadia in 4k, but would like some confidence it will work well first..

Use the Stadia controller in wifi mode with the chromebook, it makes an amazing performance improvement.  If you have seen how, load up stadia on the chromebook, click the little controller icon and it gives you a pairing code for the stadia controller.  The difference for me was like night and day.

Just thought I would try some Stadia games on my Dell 11 3120 chromebook, and the performance in terms of lag is much better, even playing through wifi. But I notice that the mouse is quite jerky, I wonder have they got it scaling the mouse polling speed to reduce congestion?  Before I would get up to half a second lag when using the mouse and keyboard, now the  lag is very low. Anyone else notice a difference? Especially on previously troublesome systems?

@Mask11424  Interesting to see you have problems on both PC and a fairly new chromebook.   For me, I have GREAT mouse aiming on my laptop (core i5) and terrible mouse aiming on my chromebook (Dell 11 3120 so quite old).  The mouse lag on the chromebook goes up considerably when I am also using the keyboard, so I wonder if it is a conflict in chrome about dealing with input.  Seems to affect some systems and not others, it is very odd. On my laptop, this is when running through ethernet direct to the router, and with mouse acceleration turned off through chrome flags. Honestly, it is so snappy.
Free to play games may come on Stadia, but for Stadia Pro players only
That Doom trailer!!! So many links to the original Doom game this has me tempted....

There is psychology in it, you (as in your brain) gets a better *reward* when you discover something compared to when you are told something (and in this case hearing it on the grapevine counts as discovering).  Or Google might just be really lax at announcing things... Also, +1 for wanting wireless play on chrome ASAP

The questions you have to ask yourself: Is the sub worth the better image? (placebo or not doesn't really matter as long as you experience a better image) How much will it really cost you being a pro subscriber (how many games / year will you buy, if you don't have to buy games as soon as they launch and can wait for pro deals, how much money do you save that way? If you are someone that buys many games being a Pro subscriber might actually be cheaper... Do the free games then add enough of a perk on top of the above?

See the announcement from the facebook Stadia page about news on Baldurs Gate III comming this Thursday Plus of course, on Stadia you can play on controller OR on a chrome browser with mouse/keyboard.  Personally I favour mouse/keyboard back from when I used to play the original Doom and of course Quake (qw), however, I love that sometimes I can just sit on a beanbag and play on the TV with a controller if I want a more relaxed gaming session (one of the reasons I think Stadia rocks)
