Both products are completely different. I use both and both have their ups and downs. Currently GFN has mich more games (but is only a small selection compared to the whole steam library). Also they dropped quite a few games from their supported list during beta. Also the UI is terrible. For some games you have to wait for every session till they get downloaded. Starting Games with Stadia is much faster. That said Stadia‘s game library is pretty small at the moment. And almost None of the games use Cloud exclusive features, which would not be possible at the time. At the end of the day both services give answer to different questions? Do you want to play PC Games without the need to buy a PC? -> GFN Do you want a cloud native platforms with features which are not possible on a PC or console -> Stadia
Mouse/Keyboard would be a great idea. It‘s also crucial if Stadia wants to get PC Games, which are not meant to play with a controller and therefore are not on consoles.

I think if we look on the market as a whole, Stadia actually does not need to be a full service yet. They have until the end of the year to launch all crucial features like Stadia Base and get some games until the new consoles arrive. Right now they have a technical proof of concept where they can stream with a level of visual quality and low input lag which is currently not met by any other streaming competition. So basically they can take their time to make things right.   there is only a huge with problem with this: They promised otherwise. They promised us a bunch of features only to clarify them as missing only a few weeks before launch. After that, they gave us the impression of daily fast updates for nearly a month only to reduce it drastically in 2020. It‘s the communication which is the problem.  I think they should do an honest blog entry in which they admit, it takes longer then communicated to build a full fledged service and they expand the free Pro subscription to account for this. Most of the people on the rant right now love stadia but hate the communication. We pay 130 bucks to get a first look into the unknown. Most of us can wait for some feature, but not if treated like everything is already here/right around the corner.

I wouldn‘t say it‘s dead. Google is recently bought a developer studio and promised us in the first half of the year 10 exclusives. But it‘s off to a slow start. One of the reason for that is, that many AAA title, which should also arrived on Stadia like Doom Eternal or WD3 got delayed. Actually there are only a few games, which arrived on other platforms since Stadia launched.  Besides the games major features are still missing, but keep in mind, we are talking about a service which launched only two month ago. They implement some features before christmas but generally those things take time.

XCloud has the much better lineup but right now on a technical level it‘s not very ambitious. I think they only support 720p at the moment and it‘s meant to be played with a phone. Google can (even if most of the games don‘t) deliver 4k/5.1/HDR. For stadia to shine over XCloud it‘s simply to have to fulfill its promises. This means more features, games, exclusives. Stadia especially needs more features exclusive to the Cloud. XCloud is aiming to bring you console experience to the Cloud, which means you can‘t have games which are impossible for local hardware. Stadia on the other hand can do exactly that, but we need the games that proves it.   Right now there is style transfer in GYLT, a 40 car mode in GRID and screen sharing in the Tom Clancy game.
@Jenesis There was no talk about Stadia Base in the 3 month roadmap, so I wouldn‘t expect Stadia Base for at least 3 months.

Right now you have to purchase the Premiere Edition. So a lot of unwanted costs for you. If you ask here, maybe someone has an unused buddy pass, which allows you to start without the hardware and 3 months of Stadia Pro for free. Soon it should be possible to subscribe to stadia without buying the hardware (and with Stadia Base you don‘t even need the subscription fee).

Keep in mind that stadia is a new platform and not a gaming pc where you can download your steam library like GForce Now. That means the games have to be ported to the stadia hardware ( which by the way is running on linux).  So asking if you can play your Steam Games on Stadia is like asking if you can play your Steam Games on Playstation.

As great as the update is, without family share I have a hard time to buy even a single Game on Stadia. Last year you said, this feature is meant for early 2020 and now it‘s not even on the 3 month roadmap. That‘s disappointing, because I want to play more games on Stadia but I won‘t buy anything, my wife can‘t play.

I think there are two things to consider here.   1.) Hardware Costs: Stadias big advantage is, that you don‘t need the hardware. So next time you have to upgrade your hardware, consider a fraction of this cost and add it to the steam price. 2.) Stadia is a new platform: And on new platforms prices are often a bit more expensive. At the beginning of the PS4 publishers charges a lot more for almost identical PS3 Ports. They did that, because on new platforms there aren‘t many games and this means very few competition. With more time and more games, i think the prices will get better.   That said, for such a young service, I think the prices are actually quite good. We got already 6 free games and nearly every full price game received a pro discount in only 6 weeks. For example many criticize Shadow of the Tomb Raider with it‘s 60 bucks price tag, but you could already get this for only 24 bucks.
Basically every Game on my current wishlist. Currently on top is Jedi Fallen Order.  The next Game I will probably buy on Stadia is Cyberpunk 2077(at least if family sharing is enabled until then)

Family Sharing is also a crucial feature for me. No Family Sharing means I cannot buy any Game on Stadia my girlfriend is slightly interested in. Also no able to share Games in a household is one of the main fuels to the whole „With Stadia you don‘t actually own the Games“ argument, which I hear very often when I talk with people who are not into the Stadia idea.
