Stadia is dead, unlock the **bleep** controller to be used wirelessly for other platforms now. It's been years people have been demanding it for YEARS, just do it already.
This is beyond stupid. Just let us use the stupid hunk of plastic you charged us money for so it doesn't end up in a landfill or buy them back in bulk.
Anyone with 2 braincells to rub together knew for a certainty stadia was going to be walked off into sunset to be added to the "killed by Google" graveyard before the service ever launched.... so really it aged exactly as expected lol
I support this pledge. Unlock the Bluetooth.
Unlock or release the source code!
word
It's not going to happen without this being a widely popular and public demand.
Technically, this is no huge undergoing for the responsible developers. They could just release a free certificate to bypass the encryption for the communication with the controller and the community can develop applications themselves.
The Stadia controller communication isn't at all encrypted, or at least not in any meaningful way from what I could tell when investigating, but the controller contacts the servers directly in order to pair itself and will totally refuse to send any input data unless it has first been paired. With the servers shutting down that means the wireless connection is basically useless.
...Which is why we want the Bluetooth to be unlocked for input instead of the wifi connection. So it can be used as a normal Bluetooth controller that doesn't need to connect to nonexistent servers.
I think that unlock BT is also a "green" option for the company ![]()
Please Google, Unlock or release the source code. It's a great hardware, don't send it to hell.
IT happend there is a new Update for Controllers, over the stadia app.
What happened? I don't see it in the Stadia app.
Not seeing anything, no official statement, no update in the app. Nothing.
I'd love it if they did it, so I could extract more functionality out of my controller. But your snarky and childish attitude all over this thread almost makes me wish they didn't now. Grow up and behave like an adult, not everything you want gets given to you.
Cry harder. If me being snarky about a **bleep**ty company that continues to **bleep** it's users over time and time again offends you, then good, you deserve to have your delicate sensibilities offended. In the meantime make your own thread for apologists. That **bleep** is unwanted here.
We are 2 weeks from Stadia to close down. EVERY owner of a controller wants to be able to use the bluetooth function. Unlock it, now ! Before people start to put it in the trash !
Such a waste of good Hardware.
for gods sake Google unlock the controller so we can use it wirelessly !!
Give something back for the wasted £80
Right now, the Stadia Controller will become useless wirelessly on January 19. For a lot of people, that basically makes it e-waste. The least you can do is open-source the firmware.
