I've been a day one user, and I like the concept, and yeah we are in the beta, and yeah you are still making us pay for it. But when can you let us use the " classic Bluetooth" as stated on your website for a year, that functionality is coming soon.
Like in 1 or 2 years. I would love to know. Because I waited on you google to get this done, as i bought two controllers on day one.
Now either tell me its not coming, or just press enable from your end.
I think the point is that people want to use the controller for non-stadia games. The direct wifi to stadia is the right thing to do, but it would be nice to be able to play games from the Play Store using the controller.
Hello @kamrankreates
What use-case are you asking for, exactly? Meaning, what do you want to use Bluetooth for?
I think it's to able to use the controller on any game on PC or mobile device.
I also want to be able to play wirelessly with my stadia controller on any game on my PC, so +1 to this demand.
why one would want to use a controller for? play games.
the fact that google decided to not even support xinput on the controller shows how delusional they are with their own product.
they need to unlock wireless connectivity
to play using mobile data
I dont want a specific controller for each platform. I want to use the stadia controller to play on steam on my pc and also on my android tv and other devices. This is only possible if Bluetooth will be used like on any other generic controller.
I can understand many are using xbox controller or other bt controllers cause of flexibility.
Using usb requires otg on mobile devices also not as good as Bluetooth.
Please implement Bluetooth support besides stafia wifi.
Bluetooth enabled for discovery of devices since its 70 bucks I would think that isn't much to ask for
I to would like to see this functionality be enabled. I own games on steam, android, and stadia. I like the feel of the controller and would love to be able to use one controller across all my gaming platforms without having to jump through hoops. Simple bluetooth pairing to be able to connect directly to my phone or my nvidia shield would be amazing.
I would love to use my Stadia controller to pair with my Chromecast with Google TV so I could play the games from the play store that require a game pad.
The reason Stadias remote works so well with almost no lag is due to it connecting to stadia via wifi and gets access to your games. Simple Bluetooth will not give you the same results. You'll most likely encounter lag and won't want to use the remote.
I think the point is that people want to use the controller for non-stadia games. The direct wifi to stadia is the right thing to do, but it would be nice to be able to play games from the Play Store using the controller.
Uh, mostly I think it would be nice to have BT enabled on the controller to use a BT headset. Doh!
I would love to use both stadia controllers for my shield pie and TV and laptop for my games without a wire. Just recommend Wifi and USB controls for stadia and enable the controller so we can use it as we see fit. Pease!
First off: A lot of people including myself have asked. Even the first page of this forum section typically has at least one thread about it..
After controller OS retrieves WIFI AP auth key over BT using Stadia it also uses DHCP enabled WIFI AP to send audio and diag data to Google servers over TLS(root is checked in controller firmware). If controller can't phone home it'll simply refuse to work wirelessly... This means no WLAN intranet is going to work
I suspect it also gets data over USB I haven't looked
Xbox One and Series controllers work over BT just fine though with Stadia app and Chromecast Ultra..... Same build quality and ergonomics....
If you want Linux or Mac or Windows or legacy-Android wireless you'll have to violate EULA and reverse engineer Stadia app.... Which is illegal
given the fact that "Product contains Bluetooth Classic radio. No Bluetooth Classic functionality is enabled at this time. Bluetooth Classic functionality may be implemented at a later date." is verbiage that appears on the product page, it would be really great if the Stadia team could make that functionality available.
The controller hardware is fantastic, and Bluetooth HID would be a great way to ensure these don't become eWaste any sooner than they have to. Not every game I want to play is on Stadia, being able to use it wirelessly as a native PC/mobile controller when I'm not in a Stadia game would be wonderful.
Why don't you just use a USB cable?
Because that does NOT work on android devices for example. Not even WIRED CONNECTION works, I bought Usb-C to Usb-C cables just for that (I thought why in the hell would a wired connection not work)... I am so sad about the controller as I can only use it with one single game I own on stadia. Google should really change something about it...
I agree it's mostly a space waster and paper weight at the moment. I bought 3 controllers when stadia launched, and all though I do still play stadia once in a while, I had to buy an xbox controller to play more of the other games that aren't on stadia that I still play. If I could do it all over again, I would have just bought xbox controllers for the versatility. Stadia controllers are the best feeling out there, it's a real shame they aren't more versatile. (Google makes plenty of devices, why not make these controllers work for everything???) Unfortunately (especially with cloud gaming and Amazon launching too) unless you sick with xbox controllers, the industry is forcing us gamers into their proprietary controllers for their platforms. Make me wonder why I didn't just but an xbox.
Stadia controller can still be used wired on pc by clicking in steam "Steam" in left upper corner > "Settings" > controller > General controller settings > Selecting "Support for generic controller".
I agree bluetooth being unlocked could be a nice thing for google to do. But they arent really paperweights.
We need this
Okey, fine.. if the problem is tecnical issues... why Stadia cant have BT connection. than think wider and make possible to Android OS connect via wifi to Stadia controller... and playStore games.. let them use WIFI... create an program for windows also, so ppl can connect their gamepad to any laptop via WIFI... the point is not BT or WIFI, but the wireless connecction.. if u find it dificult to connecct via BT then use WIFI, all the divices which use internet have WIFI.
there is even more solution for this, as U can connect any gamepad via BT on Android, so make the Stadia APP as a gamepad hub... so we can connect 8 gamepads with BT to the Android divice... to play Stadia... so the Stadia app will be a hub between gamepads and Stadia..
EXISTS: ANY Gamepad |------------------BT------------------| Stadia App |-------------------------------------WIFI------------|
EXISTS: STADIA Gamepad |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------WIFI------------|STADIA |------------WIFI----------| Chromecast / Chrome
EXISTS: STADIA Gamepad |---------cable------------| Chrome |-------------------------------------------------WIFI------------|
DOESNT: MULTIPLE Gamepads |-------BT-------| Stadia App (if with HUB posibilities) |-------WIFI------------|
DOESNT: ANY Gamepad |--------------cable-------------| Stadia Gamepad |----------------------------------WIFI-----------|
DOESNT: STADIA Gamepad |---------WIFI-------| Stadia Windows Utility |--------------------| WINDOWS GAMES
DOESNT: STADIA Gamepad |--------WIFI-------| Play Store Games
DOESNT: STADIA Gamepad |---------WIFI-------| Android OS full control
for example, in this case:
ANY Gamepad |--------------cable-------------| Stadia Gamepad |----------------------------------WIFI-----------|
the Stadia controller could ve the BT connection with other gamepads as it has Android OS (google dev) and even the Stadia Controller could be the wireless(BT) HUB between ANY Gamepad and STADIA
XBOX / PS / ALLIExpress |----------------BT-----|
ANY Gamepad |---------------------------------BT-----| Stadia Gamepad |-------------WIFI-----------|STADIA
Android Gamepad Simulator |-----------BT-----|
In this case, the Stadia Controller would be the best thing.. and it will arise the vending of the controller. if after that:
STADIA Gamepad |---------WIFI-------| Stadia Windows Utility |--------------------| WINDOWS GAMES
the Stadia Controller will be very necesary even if U dont use Stadia, and only want to play MULTI playing Windows games:
XBOX / PS / ALLIExpress |----------------BT-----|
ANY Gamepad |---------------------------------BT-----| Stadia Gamepad |-------------WIFI-----------|STADIA
Android Gamepad Simulator |-----------BT-----| |Stadia Windows Utility |--------------------| WINDOWS GAMES
ANY Android Gamepad Simulator:
this Stadia can do very easily, already Stadia has his Controller .. so Stadia devellopers can create an APK of Stadia Controller Simulator for Andoid, and people can instal that application and use their smartphones as Stadia Controller with WIFI, to play Stadia in Chrome/Chromecast ...etc:
STADIA-Android Gamepad Simulator |--------------------------------WIFI------------|STADIA |------------WIFI----------| Chromecast / Chrome
Any new on that windows utility? I mean, if the community does that, they would violate EULA , as a top reply says.
Currently not an option they allow but agree the controllers are great and Stadia would make more money just selling these controllers so they connected to the PC or Droid to play any game.
I would think that if you spend 75 bucks on a controller that is supposed to connect to Google products, (albeit ONE Google product apparently) that said controller would in the very least be able to connect with Bluetooth.
Especially when EVERY OTHER CONTROLLER
over FIFTY BUCKS CAN
Google Be Bull**bleep**ing People! maybe that's why they have filed a class action lawsuit against Google over not living up to the hype about Google Stadia.
idk maybe it's just me
Now that Stadia is officially supported on GoogleTV and AndroidTV, I think that bluetooth BLE mode would be a welcome addition so that we may manage our Android boxes/Devices with the controller and have a full Stadia Controller experience.
In my personnal case, it would make for a perfect replacement for my broken Nvidia Shield Controller (since Stadia replaced GFN, for me).
With the launch of the Google play pass, you would think that it is the perfect time to enable Bluetooth connectivity for the controller. You have 2 game subscription services (Stadia Pro and Play Pass) both owned by Google, and yet the controller only works wirelessly with one.
There are many users who won't want to use Stadia but want/need a controller for a load of play pass games; surely you want their controller of choice to be the Stadia controller. Why would they pick it over a Bluetooth enabled controller?
You could even do a promotion where getting an annual play pass subscription gives a discount on the controller, getting it into people's hands who are clearly happy to pay for a gaming subscription who may not have given Stadia a chance, possibly converting them to using both and doubling revenue.
Even if you just look from a business perspective, the decision not to support bluetooth gaming does not make sense.
This just makes way to much sense for google to think about.
We really need this.
Stadia is slowly becoming my main gaming platform, but there are obviously many games that are still missing, so we have to rely on other platforms to play them.
Being able to use our Stadia Controller over Bluetooth with any other platform means we won't need to invest in other ecosystems, depending less and less on them. If a friend comes over and wants to play a PC game, you would still use the Stadia Controller, they'll get used to it, they'll be more likely to buy their own Premiere Pack, and and you might even decide to buy more controllers for yourself in case more people come over.
As things stand, though, we're still forced to keep (or buy) other controllers to play games on PCs, phones, tablets, etc. which makes it a lot less likely that we'll buy more Stadia Controllers, and keeps us invested in other ecosystems.
As a quick example: supporting standard XInput over Bluetooth would mean I could pair this with my Steam Link. This would allow me to play PC games in a large TV on my living room using the Stadia Controller, which means I'd be able to ditch both my Steam Controller and my ageing PS3 controllers, replacing them with a couple new Stadia Controllers. When people come to visit, they would only see Stadia Controllers, they'd play with them and I'm pretty sure they'd love them and ask about Stadia in general.
The hardware is there, and I really think Google should consider the potential benefits of releasing the software for it.
I agree. I purchased two controllers, one bundled with a Chromecast Ultra, and the other bundled with Google TV. I was happy to see that I could play android games like R-Type and Beach Buggy on my Google TV. I was more excited to see that I could attach bluetooth controllers to the Google TV. I was so disappointed to discover that I could NOT use the excellent Stadia Controllers with my new Google TV.
Google has it slated to be enabled at the same time they're planning on enabling Stadia support of your entire Steam Library. .
