Stadia controller loses connection when starting the game

Hi guys,

I set up my stadia controller and got everything ready to play C77 with chromecast, however, everytime I wanna start the game the successful connection of my controller is lost and I just see a message to turn my controller back on.

I charged it, I set it up as instructed, even switched to 5-GHz and it still won't work.

What can I do?? - Thank you for your help!

Hi @Banana1993 and @PNUT,

Could you try to factory reset the controller and configure it with your Stadia app.
How to do is can be found HERE.

Hi @Banana1993,

Ok thanks for reporting back. :grinning_face:
You are using a Chromecast Ultra correct? If so you can also try to reset this device.
Please be sure to connect it through ethernet of WiFi 5 GHz.

Hi @RXShorty,

So here is the trouble-shooting i did so far:
- charged controller
- restart and/or factory reset chromcast ultra
- restart or reset the controller
- connected controller and chromecast with 2,4Ghz & 5ghz together or both in different frequencies (with AES Encryption and without)
- enable/disable game-mode; 50Hz-Option; screen reading etc.
- used different resolutions (720p; 1080p; 4k)

So far, it is still not working :S

@PNUT

My controller is doing the same, but before what you describe, the games video and audio jitter like it's about to buffer out.. Then the controller disconnects. As soon as it does, the video and audio go normal.

I had also connected my controller to Stadia using my laptop and my phone to the same result.

It is not a wifi issue for me as I tried doing a bandwidth test while this is going on and I'm not losing frames.

I did the troubleshooting procedures as you described to no avail.

Update. I didn't even notice that the power brick that was with the Chromecast Ultra/ Stadia controller has an Ethernet port to plugged ethernet into Chromecast. As soon as it booted up, everything went excellent. No jitter, no controller disconnects.

@Igmu Genius!

Yes it works. So for everyone reading it and having the same issue, connect your ethernet cable with the stadia power brick and your router/modem for the first time. After that, i could play without any issues, lags or frequency problems. After that stop stadia, switch off everything connected to prevent a crash and unplug the ethernet cable. From now on, it should work without cable and problems via wi-fi.

That looks that your router has to many wifi connections.
It is always good to connect your Chromecast Ultra with a ethernet cable. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
