Hardware:
Apologies for the word-salad title but this issue has proven to be quite.. wild. I'm hoping SOMEBODY out there will read this and post their fix, as Google Stadia's customer support (via call) and Google Fibers customer support haven't been able to correct the issue over multiple weeks.
The Issue:
Long-press commands like walking forward using the left stick, or holding down the boost button (A), will just stop sending after 5-15 seconds. The controller doesn't visibly disconnect and there are 0 error messages, and the game doesn't even freeze as I'm able to press other buttons. It just stops sending the walk-forward command (or any long-press command) which forces me to let go of the stick and press it back forward to get my character to start walking again.
What I've done to troubleshoot:
UPDATE: I FIXED my issue by adding a secondary WiFi router (Apple AirPort Extreme) specifically for the controller.
Issue is no longer present, and I'm positive this has to do with Google Fiber's Network Box WiFi radio interfering with something.
The Apple Airport Extreme is old.. discontinued by Apple as of recent as well. My main goal was to use the Airport Extreme as a third wifi spot. I ran the ethernet from my Fiber NetworkBox into the Airport Extreme and set it up as a 5Ghz network. I reset my stadia controller and connected to the new apple spot, tried cyberpunk on my phone and walked for about 10 minutes straight before I threw my hands up in the air in excitement.
I then turned off the controller and paired to my desktop, popped open stadia and voila my issue is fixed.
As an added afterthought since I forgot to mention this clearly: Stadia streams phenomenally on my all of my devices in my apartment.
The workaround I'm using to enjoy Stadia in my apartment is an XBOX One controller + USB dongle plugged into my desktop. The input lag isn't bad at all.
I've logged 15+ hours of cyberpunk2077 in 4k on high frames mode with my xbox controller and literally noticed ZERO issues. I purchased the controller+CCU combo to add to my Stadia experience, instead it seems to have taken away from it.
Just out of curiosity, it could be caused by the 2 chromecast? maybe the second one is somehow interacting with the controller? can you try to momentarily remove the second chromecast?
Hey @HatDroid appreciate your reply. Most of my troubleshooting was done via my computer browser. The chromecasts are back in the Stadia boxes and haven't been connected to my WiFi since.
