Hello, I haven't had many issues with my stadia experience. But here lately my controller has been dropping out while playing games. When it happens, stadia doesn't realize what is happening and the game continues which has been rather annoying. It usually takes around 20 seconds to reconnect and when it does, there is a slightr hiccup in frame rate for about 2 seconds. Please advise, thanks.
PS I have 2 Stadia controllers I switch between and the problem happens on both, so I am thinking it is not a hardware issue.
Sorry to hear that @Coletrainduh.
Is that only happening in a specific game or in different games?
I haven't had this problem so far, but I would assume it's a problem with the connection of the controller. Maybe a factory reset of the controller would help? After the reset, you will need to set up your WiFi connection with the Stadia App again to play wirelessly. Maybe this reset would help you in this case. If it doesn't I would recommend to contact Stadia support for more advice.
The connection loss might also be a Chromecast problem together with the controller, so it might be worth to investigate that issue further with the Chromecast Team if nothing helped.
Hope you can get it fixed soon as that problem must be frustrating. Wish you all the best!
Thanks, I’m going to try that now. It occurs on multiple games.
I had the same problem and it turned out that the controller was setup to connect to the wrong wifi. I found an article that helped (the quick disconnect worked great): https://9to5google.com/2019/12/27/how-to-connect-stadia-controller-different-wifi/
Method 1 – Quick disconnect
The easiest way to disconnect your Stadia Controller from WiFi, is to hold the Y button when powering on your controller. This tells the controller not to connect to its normal WiFi network but go into set up mode.
Method 2 – Factory reset
If for whatever reason, the quick disconnect method doesn’t work for you, or if you want to make your controller like new again, the next option is to factory reset the Stadia Controller. As documented by Google, to factory reset, while your controller is off, press-and-hold the Capture and Google Assistant buttons for 6 seconds, until the controller vibrates.
