Hi !
Anyone know if one day we will playing stadia with sony or microsoft controller in my tv instead of stadia controller ?
If the guide here https://support.google.com/stadia/answer/10043273 doesn't work, try to contact the support
If it is just a matter of preference and you already have a Stadia controller you can use the Tandem Mode to play on your favorite controller https://support.google.com/stadia/answer/10043273
If you don't have the Stadia controller.... well... I suppose you have to wait (but not sure if it will be implemented at all)
Thanks you for reply,
You know if it work with dualsense ?
It should, but I'm not 100% sure, the page that I linked suggest anything?
To be able to play with what ever controller you choose should have been an option from start if you ask me.
But it's all about the money. They think like Apple... Force their customers to buy and use only their stuff.
It's not, you can play with any controller on PC, the limit is only on TVs, since the CCU doesn't have and USB port, nor the software to connect the controller. In case of TV the controller connect directly to the Google server via Wi-Fi
My point is till valid. @HatDroid
There are other ways to do it. They actively chose not to do it.
Which way? Make you buy a magical wifi device to connect any controller to a TV? Or make any controller Bluetooth magically connect to an online service they are not programmed for?
Since day 1 is possible to use any controller on laptops, and smartphone by using a cable, but you can't connect something that doesn't natively connect to another object without having a "translating" device, the use of the Stadia controller to make this possible is the best and more efficient way to do it instead of forcing you to buy another piece of hardware with the only purpose of connecting your favorite controller to an online service
@HatDroid magical?
So a pc is magical? You can use what ever you want with a pc basically.
I am talking about the chromecast ultra that forces you to use their brand of controller.
Chromecast ultra was already existing before Stadia, they just used it, but the CCU itself doesn't have the connectivity necessary to connect in a realiabke and fast enough with a controller, this is why the Stadia controller was added, it's the controller the send the signal to the Google server, they needed another piece of hardware to connect to the server and instead of splitting the two (creating a receiver for any controller AND the controllers) they went with the controller only, and the controller also let you to connect with the tandem mode which is both convenient and technically impressive as a solution, again you can play on PC with whatever you want because the pc has the software, the hardware and the power to deliver fast input to the Google servers, in case of stadia every millisecond counts, and the CCU is too slow in sending (its a receiver.)
My point still valid. They could have chosen to make a better ultra. Or just add a usb port or a bluetooth receiver inside. Etc.
Like I said. A lot of different possibilities that they chose not to do.
And while they are on, locking devices, they chose to lock the stadia controller to only work with Stadia platforms.
They have "kind of" started to support other platforms. But that was also an active choice. Steam big picture is not really something to boast about ![]()
But then you should have bought another device just for playing, I may understand your point, but I can't understand the logic where buying two different devices would make you forcing you to buy an additional device just for connecting another pad instead of fusing two in one and giving you the ability to play on what you like is an "apple style" maneuver.
When using Stadia. You already need to buy a new device.
I think we are misunderstanding one another.
I am talking from a new players point of view.
If I buy Stadia premiere edition (or what ever it is called). I would have loved if I could use my xbox or ps4 controller with the CCU (this works on PC like you said).
And I would also love if I could use the stadia controller on the pc for other platforms/other games.
Do you see what I mean? It is an Apple move in the way that you have to buy the stadia controller to be able to play on CCU even though CCU is sold in a SPECIFIC bundel for Stadia. And like @Aurenar said, it is no different from what Sony, Microsoft etc are doing. I was just hoping that Google was above that.
The thing that google does that is REALLY apple of them. Not letting their controller work with other platforms.
They say they are working on it and yes, more support has ben implemented.
But it was a choice they made and a choice they keep on making.
Ok, I think I got your misunderstanding.
When you start to play stadia you don't have to buy anything, just connect any controller to any laptop, or play with your smartphone with any bluetooth controller or with the integrated controller.
You don't need anything else, so your point is that is a bad move by Google to let you play wherever you want with any device?
Skip to TVs, for the TV the misunderstanding is that you need the CCU and the controller to play on the TV.
All you need to play wherever you don't have a bluetooth/usb port is the controller and a chrome browser, the CCU is simply the faster way to have a chrome browser on your TV, but you don't really need that, you only need the controller, If you already have a CCU you can use that, if your TV is ready to open a chrome browser you can probably use that... some one even played on samsung fridges and guess what? without the CCU, only the controller.
The only thing that you really need to buy and again ONLY IF WHERE YOU WANT TO PLAY DOESN'T HAVE A BLUETOOTH / USB INTERFACE is the controller.
No one in the universe gives you a product where you can just buy a game and play with any device you want. (maybe Luna? but I didn't have tried it since the service is still not available where I live)
More than that I don't know how to explain better to you, probably you have some solution better than the one chosen and you should have applied to Google because they really search for talented engineer/marketers
Meanwhile I will later play on my old macbook with Star Wars Jedi fallen order with my Playstation 3 controller because I can (of course, my macbook is completely not able to run the game, but thanks Stadia I guess)
Oh, I forgot a thing, you can't have Stadia on iPhone, because Apple XD
We may say the same about PS5 and Xbox, and Switch. Basically for every console ever existed in the history. What's wrong now?
Yes @Aurenar it is not different from sony or microsoft. Never claimed it to be. I just weathered my opinion.
I hoped that google was less narrow minded. They usually seem to be.
**bleep** yeah bro. I'ma use my my nintendo glove and running pad and gun going to play me some destiny. **bleep** it I won't even use stadia I'ma break out my coleco vision out of the closet.
