I tried to get support from this issue already but no matter what I've tried I'm still having issues.
I've tried the troubleshooting steps with the controller to reset and I've tried different USB C to USB C cables, even just bought a new one from Amazon.
I know the controller and the cable are not the the issue since I've plugged the controller into another device and it launched the Stadia app as it should.
I've resorted to factory resetting my phone after USB debugging also not working, with even that not working as well, though I was assured I didn't need to do that I still did because I had to try everything I could before posting.
I have never seen a troubleshooting issue video on YouTube nor anyone playing Stadia on my device so I feel kind of feel lost at this point.
@MightyMace Just to make sure, you can still launch a game, but the controller is not recognized? I have Pixel 3 XL and it's recognizing the controller (when I plugged it in, it asked me if I want to launch Stadia), but whenever I start a game, it crashes.
What is your phone's version and Stadia app version? Will do further investigations.
@Ivan so when I launch a game on my Pixel device I am greeted with the connect controller pop up connect via USB we will hold your game for 5 min etc. but my controller is already plugged in to my phone. So in essence the controller does not turn on period.
My phone is running Android 10
My apps version is version 2.13.304501702
@MightyMace I did remember one thing. There's an update recently for the Stadia controller. Have you tried it? If you don't use CCU you can update it through Stadia app. Just tap on the controller icon at the top and turn on your Stadia controller. The update process should happen automatically.
@Ivan Yes my controller is up to date as I have done a factory reset on that as well just as of yesterday and I believe the update happened with the reset automatically. I do use a CCU as well.
This may not help, but I have the same device (Pixel 3XL) and tried this yesterday. On first connection, the phone didn't recognize the controller. Using the same cable, I unplugged it from the controller and tried again, really jamming the connector in. It's a tight fit on the controller, and on the second try the phone recognized it and I was off.
@Samas I appreciate the tip! I unfortunately have tried most cable adjustments and physical changes as I could (gave your advice a shot).
Did you ever fix it? I got the same problem with my Pixel a3. I tried 3 cables of which one usb A to usb C cable with an adaptor. It recognized the controller once in 50 attempts. It used to work just fine... I tried cleaning all usb connectors, but no luck...
@laurens actually I never did, figured I'd just wait until Bluetooth connectivity came to phones because I tried too many different things without success.
