L2 button triggers far too easy

Jump to Best Response
When I play Destiny for example and want to aim, I only need to push the L2 button very very slightly and my character aims. This happens only with my FE controller (played with it for about 30 hours). When I take my Wasabi Controller however (fairly unused, only 2 hours played) the L2 trigger works perfectly fine. Furthermore, the Wasabi L2 button feels (and sounds) a little bit different than the FE one. E.g. I can hear the spring when I push the L2 button. I was wondering if I am the only one experiencing this... Shouldn‘t Google have tested this before sending this into mass production? I think its odd, that a controller changes it‘s button behaviour after that short period of time... What happens after a couple of months? Moreover, does it help to contact support to get the controller replaced to experience the same thing two weeks later? What are your thoughts? How does your controller behave after a couple hours played?

I spoke with the support over the phone last week and they gave me a voucher code to choose a new controller for free. The Founder’s Controller I am allowed to keep. The new controller has already arrived and it seems to work fine. I hope it continues to do so...

I have to add: The L2 of the Founder’s Controller changed it’s behaviour over the last week. It is now rather harder to push and I can feel the spring even more when I push it. However this is something I can get used to because now my finger can rest again on the button without aiming in games... :slightly_smiling_face:

The solution suggested by the support to choose a new controller for free and keep the old one is definitely something I can live with. Now I have three controllers... Let the party/coop games come :slightly_smiling_face:

@Evolutive I've not noticed any sensitivity issues with either trigger on my FE controller, and I've put lots of hours in. Last night I was tinkering with the steering sensitivity in GRID and verified that L2 and R2 both move 0-100% very smoothly and linearly.

I don't think what you're experiencing is normal and would recommend contacting support to see what they have to say.

Thanks for the fast response.

I noticed, that the distance between the L1 and L2 buttons is slightly larger than the distance between the R1 and R2 buttons. So the L2 button seems to be a little more triggered by nature... On the Wasabi Controller the same, but not that much.

How is it with your controller?

@Evolutive I'll try to inspect that tonight.

@Evolutive Nope, the spacing between the triggers and bumpers seem pretty consistent on my controller.

Hey, I've been trying to figure this issue out and now that I've figured out it was the L2 button I see that you've run into the same issue. My controller as well as a VERY sensitive L2 button and after reading your post I looked at the controller and my L2 button also has a lot more space between it and L1 vs R2 and R1.

It so sensitive and I just put my finger on the L2 it jumps into zoomed aiming on whatever weapon I am using. I'm glad to know now I am not the only one having this problem.  I recommend chatting with Google through the contact options on their stadia page and let them know there and issue with it, take a video and show it to them they are def more than willing to help out.

I am hoping my new controller will be here today so i can test it out and see if it works better.

Here just to tell that I experienced the same problem!

I started to see the problem ten days ago playing Destiny2, and yesterday after some frustrating match I tested the controller with Samurai Shodown.

just touch the L2 button without actually pressing it to activate the button! After a couple of minutes it start to activate also without touching the button!

Funny thing If you turn upside down the controller you can press how much you want the L2 button without any effect....

I contacted the support and they'll send me a voucher for a new controller.

My only regret  is not longer having the controller Founder Edition working... But I'll enjoy my new wasabi edition :slightly_smiling_face:

Saw this thread linked and will share the only thing I could do because as a warlock and floating that accident press would drop me out of sky to death too often.

Play on Jumper buttons, that means you use LB to jump so your finger doesn't hover over L2 aa much and it's the only way I could play without the annoying accidental ADS presses.
