Input Lag - Only with the Controller

Jump to Best Response

Hi!

I have the following problem.

When I play Stadia on my smartphone, I don't have any noticeable lag.

When I play on Chrome on a MacBook with a PS4 controller, I don't have any noticeable lag.

But when I play Stadia on the Chromecast Ultra with a Stadia controller, then the experience is not enjoyable. The lag is clearly noticeable and you can't play like that.

Briefly for information:

- I don't have a gaming mode on my TV.

-I use all variants in the same WLAN with the same distance to the router.

- The lowering of the resolution did not achieve the desired effect either.

Can someone help me with my problem?

@Hirntier Can you try using the Stadia controller wirelessly with Chrome on your Macbook to see if the lag is there too? This would help to narrow down the issue to the controller or the Chromecast.

It might also help if you could test running an Ethernet cable to your Chromecast just to eliminate any possibility of WiFi issues there too.

I found this thread that indicated a similar problem which was resolved with a firmware update:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/jbq5zs/noticable_input_lag_when_gaming_on_xiaomi_mi_tv/

And this one mentions needing to switch the picture profile from "Monitor" to literally anything else:

Maybe also look for settings like "Noise Reduction" and "Motion Smoothing" and making sure those are turned off:

Hopefully one of those will help? I found a lot of other threads complaining about lag with that TV though.

I will try it.

My current guess is that the problem is with the TV because my other TV doesn't have the problem.

@Hirntier That could be. Even though the TV doesn't have a gaming mode, it might be doing some other processing that could cause a slight delay.

What's the brand and model?

I read everything there. Strangely, I don't have the update they're talking about ...

Hmm. I didn't see anyone mention a version so maybe you've already got the update?

I'm not really sure what else to suggest at this point. Maybe reach out to Xiaomi support to see if they can offer any insight?
