Hi,
The R1 shoulder button is working only 25% of the time. When it does respond to my presses, it will double/triple trigger, and the odd times it will trigger the R2 button.
I've exhausted all options from the official Stadia help page (hardware reset, factory reset, etc...). Does Google have a hardware service center? I would like to continue playing games without worrying if the R1 button is going to work or not.
The only way I can play games through Stadia is on the CCU. I don't have any other options.
Can anyone help? Does anyone know of any other solutions that maybe I didn't think of?
Hiya @Unknown,
You should contact Stadia support. Most of the times the controller issues result in replacement.
Hi @RXShorty,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I did contact Stadia Support before the first post. Only did so after I went through all options available through the Stadia Help site.
I've contacted them once again after the first post to see if there's a Google Hardware Service Center (forgot to ask the first time I contacted them), their answer was, no.
The only solution I was given for this issue was to buy a new controller (which is close to $100 for just the controller here); but that isn't an option for me, as money has different priorities during these times we're in.
I don't know what else to do. I just want to game without any hardware issues.
Hello @Unknown,
Ok that is a pitty. You say you are having a Founders edition... Which is more than a year old correct? Looks like you are out of luck with warranty at this point...
See LINK.
Another annoying issue is that the Stadia controller wasn't specifically build for easy repairs. But there are ways to open the controller as good as it gets. Check out THIS video for more information.
To be honest I had 2 controllers before with R2 trigger issues, which felt the membrane was out of its place. Should be a easy fix... But I still had warranty so decided to get them replaced.
If you don't have this option you could try fixing it yourself (at your own risk of course) because my guess is this has something to do with a loose thing in the controller that needs to be set at the right place again.
But please know that this is going to be at your own risk and no guarantees. Sorry I don't have any better news for you than trying to fix it yourself or let it fixe by some handy person, or wait for a nice controller discount.
Another you could do is keep an eye on sites like eBay for cheap Premier editions, there are going to be free with the Resident Evil pre-order. Or maybe that is a nice idea if you want to buy a cool horror game and get a free Stadia Premier edition. But also here are some places like Canada where this offer is not valid.
I am just giving you the options I can make up right now to get you gaming again as it should. ![]()
Hey @RXShorty,
Thanks for the info, but I'm not going to service it myself. That's why I inquired about a Google Hardware Service Center, 'cause maybe it's a hardware issue, and not just a loose pad/membrane. Either way, they really need a Hardware Service Center.
The RE 8 Pre-Order offer isn't available here. Also, I don't shop on eBay.
Again, thanks for your help. I guess I'll have to wait for a sale on the Google Store, or some kind of promo offer. ...This really sucks.
