Hi,
I am trying to reach google stadia support due to hardware error in my founders edition controller. The trigger buttons have always been very sensitive, typically I have to keep my fingers off the triggers in FPS games as they will fire just from my finger touching the button.
Two days ago it got a lot worse, I had to actually hold my finger behind the little "lip" of the right trigger button, pressing it out, or the gun would fire all the time.
Yesterday even that did not work. When I start the game, Borderlands 3 in that case, it will just start shooting no matter what I do.
When trying to contact Google, all I get is a message saying that chat or e-mail support is not availble at this time (for obvious reasons), and that I should post something here.
Has anyone else had this problem? What to do? I am guessing I have to return the controller for repair or replacement, but how do I do that now?
Appreciate any help!
Thanks!
I contacted Google Stadia through twitter yesterday, they sent me a form to fill out (where I attached the video above). Then they sent me an answer via email with a code for ordering a new controller for free.
That is great service! I was fearing a long repair process with shipping to and from etc. Now I can play again in 2-4 days!
Hello @JonjaC,
really strange behavior. As you describe this could be a hardware issue you try to check the unions between the triggers buttons? Maybe a piece of little junk/dirt is there and making some issues.
Maybe in this union:
or in this other one:
One thing you can try is using a kind of airblow stuff to try to clean the unions also shake a bit the controller to verify is there is no piece sound inside (you know that kind of piece magically just moving inside something completely sealed like witchcraft).
Cheers,
Dema.
Hi Dema,
Thanks for your answer!
The triggers (L2 / R2) have been super sensitive from day one. I am used to resting my finger on the trigger finger, but on the Stradia controller I've had to change that to lifting the finger off the button when playing FPS like Borderlands 3. The buttons looks clean, can't see any debris in the creeks. See pictures.
I tried now to click it many times all the way in, and managed to get it back to "two-days-ago-bug". But it is a pain to game like this. See video https://youtu.be/sB8k0njUMa4
Thanks,
Jon
Hey @JonjaC,
after saw your video example definitely you might contact Stadia Support to get a kind of warranty on the hardware is not normal, also not looks like a lag or something like that ![]()
Sad to see this behavior and cant help you with any tip/hint :S.
Hope you get this issue solved soon.
Cheers,
Dema.

Yes I had the same issue and got a new controller for free. You could actually hear the difference when pulling the L2 vs the R2 on the founders edition controller. The Wasabi replacement is LESS sensitive but I think the game devs need to fix the programming because some Stadia games are way more sensitive than when I use it for PC games.
Hi, I received the Google stadia premiere edition and when calibrating the controller in F1 2019, using it within windows, not with the stadia service (but I don't think that matters) I noticed that the triggers have no sensitivity in terms of how far/hard they are being pressed, which for a racing game is unusable. I need to be able to manipulate the throttle smoothly so the car doesn't spin or break out at the rear. Is this just a matter of product design or do your stadia controllers function differently?
My guess is that this is all within normal hardware tolerance and that the real problem is that the controller firmware/driver has no trigger deadzone. Either that, or the developers are used to other platforms whose controller firmware behaves slightly different, and need to be made aware of this. For a game that doesn't use the analog trigger feature, the developer should probably only trigger a press at 50%. Maybe there are some API differences compared to other platforms. Do other controllers with analog triggers have a deadline?
Hey! I'm having the same issue with my left trigger! Do you have a link to the form you filled out?
