I'm experiencing very crackly audio (hard to hear what is happening) when using headphones and only when the controller is on WiFi (sound from the Chromecast is fine and sound from the 3.5mm jack on the headphones is fine when the controller is connected to my phone by USB C).
I have tried on two different internet connections, one of them with ridiculously good WiFi that nobody else was using and insanely low latency (with plenty of bandwidth) and another less good, and with two sets of headphones.
I have reported it via feedback, but not got any sort of reply or acknowledgement.
Hi all -- sorry to hear of your troubles. Please reach out to our Support Team in order to receive additional help.
Ok guys ... I just SOLVED the problem (thanks to a great hint in the german thread). This is how it worked:
- go to the Google Home App
- tap on your Chromecast Ultra emblem
- open the preferences
- join the preview program (screenshot attached, german language though)
- confirm the e-mail link
I just waited until the next day and it just works! Perfect headset sound from the 3.5 mm jack on the controller.
Please let me know if it works for you guys, too.

Is it a joke? For the second time the stadia support team has proposed me a replacement which I have again refused because I was convinced it was a software related issue. I am a bit disappointed about google organization. The support and the R&D team do not seem to communicate well. I have asked them to get in touch with the developers and they told me it is not possible but rather suggested me to send feedbacks through the app. I spent 1hour this evening to disturb once more the AVM support team while they should have known that the developers were already working on that.
I have just followed your procedure and force reboot by clicking on the dots icon under device settings and received the 1.50 version of the firmware which indeed solves the problem.
Thanks for sharing this information!
Tried this, joined the preview program, and rebooted the CCU. My firmware is now at 1.50.250947. The issue still persists, and more prominent when playing Fifa21.
The intermittent audio stuttering issue has wrecked my whole Stadia experience on my 4k TV. These days I just play on my Ipad to get consistent audio. I have complained numerous times before, with no reply. At this point, I really question why I'm even a pro subscriber.
I do have the same problem, although it seems to be in waves. I will try the above fix and let you know.
Solved with preview firmware. See comments below...
the problem is ccu connected in lan with fritzbox 7590 , unitl yesterday i was on 6.84 firmware and no have Crackling, all work well, after update 7.21 the Crackling is begin, only in lan, in wifi no have problem.
now have to downfrade fritzbox or try preview program with ccu
I have the same issue. Have a new white controller and the founder black version. It happens on both so it is likely NOT a hardware issue.
On every first startup of the day it happens.after a stadia reboot it stops.. so idk anything about the firmware or updates.. but the good ol reboot method pioneered by our ancestors still works for me. Still kinda sucks, but I love my Stadia.
Same here.
I tried:
The only thing I didnt try is connecting to separate wifis 2,4 and 5ghz because I use a unified wifi that has the same session name for 2,4 and 5ghz and I cant see a way to force the controller to connect to 2,4.
I want to like my Stadia. But it is breaking my heart.
When will this be fixed?!?
Sorry for jumping in so late. I can feel your frustation
The good news: I might have a solution which worked for me and a number of users as well (tested in an unofficial German board):
Go to your router settings and put the controller you want to use with a headset into DMZ or make it an exposed host. Restart your controller and try it out again.
Report back if this works for you, please.
DMZ and exposed host may allow breach of our home networks to attackers.
Clearly this is not an option.
@Borussia not sure this is "good news" sounds more like desperation.
Regards,
B
Yeah, it's gotten unusably bad lately.
Just started to have this issue the weekend. My stadia is unplayable. Anyone have any luck sorting this?
