Controller not connecting to wifi

Jump to Best Response
Hi, my controller does not connect to my wifi network. Wifi network is 2.4GHz from unfi AP. Nothing special, just WPA2 with password. Every other device in the hous works just great. I see the controller in the management console of the WIFI, and i also see it get an ip from DHCP, but the controller still blink orange and the apps tell me it's still connecting to wifi. I cannot ping the controlle ( maybe normal). Any idea ? thanks

Interesting.  I also use UniFi and connected mine fine to my UAP-nanoHD.

If you just wait, does it eventually give you an error message?  How long have you waited?  Did you try connecting it on the 5Ghz band instead?

The first time your controller connects it will have an update to download, but it sounds like you're not reaching that point as it specifically says it is updating.

Here is the general support article for setting up the controller in case anything in there might help you:

After some quick test with a little dlink router, i figure out that the controller was connecting just fine on a 5ghz network but not on a 2ghz. My unifi AP are quite old and did not have a 5gz radio. So i took a chance and went to wallmart to get a google wifi 3ap kit. I could always return it back if it did not work. After a bit of fooling around, 10 minutes later wifi was change, controller was working, and my wifi network is now capable of getting the full bandwith of my internet connection. Stadia work numero uno on the Chromecast on the tv. But on my Chromebook is not usable as is my Linux workstation. I think my next puzzle is figuring out how to get chrome to use hardware acceleration.
