Completely new to Stadia and am already having issues with the controller. I can usually load up a game fine, but once I get to playing it is when I encounter issues. It seems that every button I press brings up the stadia menu (the menu that lets you configure resolution, controller, etc.) I thought that only the Stadia button did this. As a result the only thing I can do is mess around with the Stadia menu and not actually play any games. Also the controller randomly disconnects after five or ten minutes of gameplay.
Any tips would be appreciated.
I think I fixed it.
My controller appeared to be running on a different WiFi network then my Chromecast. Seems to be working now. Fingers crossed.
Hello @Tazmoe,
So if I understand, in game, when you press the A button on the controller, it's like if you type Shift + Tab on keyboard ? It bring the Stadia menu on the right ?
As you may know, it's not the way it should work. ![]()
Try to use your phone with Stadia (iOS : Use Safari, Android : use the Stadia's app), connect your controller, and try.
Same problem ? It means it's your controller and you have to reset it : https://support.google.com/stadia/answer/9584135?hl=en
No problem with phone ? It means it came from your computer's setup. Probably a software running in background. For example, when you hit the Stadia button on the middle of the controller with Steam opened, you will get messed up by Steam.
Others software can alter your controller like xPadder, XOutput, JoyToKey, KeySticks, etc..
Let me know the result of your tests ! ![]()
EDIT : For the disconnections, this may occurs for 2 reasons :
- Your controller is connected through WiFi, you are probably way too far from your router. Prefer 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz if it's the case !
- Your controller automatically disconnect after a few time if you do not use it. I wonder if "opening the Stadia's menu" is actually considered as "acting with the controller", so if you resolve your initial problematic, maybe it will also fix this one.

Nice !
