Why is so hard to connect a Stadia controller?
My Chromecast with Google TV is connected to the network with cable. I successfully paired my Stadia controller to Chromecast with my phone to my home network (cable + wifi is the same network). Works wonderfully. Until I restart. Then controller wont connect anymore. It just blinks and can not connect. Great. I can re do the pairing procedure then works for that session, then next day can not connect.
Comparing this to my PS4 controller which just connects with bluetooth and works reliable and I can even control my whole Google TV with it, not just Stadia. Now, compare the two. PS4 clearly wins.
Hi @madrian1,
@RXShorty, in this case, actually has a point. We've seen a lot of our users find more success with a more stable Stadia Controller experience when they connect it directly to the 2.4GHz network. If possible, trying this out may help improve your experience as well. Let us know how it goes when you can.
Thank you,
James
Hoi @madrian1
Are you using your Stadia controller with 2.4GHz WiFi? There are some issues with a 5GHz for the controller somehow. ![]()
Hi @RXShorty, I have a 2.4/5GHz mixed network. BTW this could be an answer why it sometimes work, but please. It is 2021, nobody have dedicated 2.4GHz network.
Hello @madrian1
Sorry I cannot fix the issue. Best is to report it by using the Feedback option.
I split up my WiFi to use the 5GHz just for Stadia devices like Chromecast and laptop. ![]()

Actually the solution is to turn on controller after launched Stadia app on Google TV. In this case connects every time without problem. This should be indicated somewhere.
