@SVShooter As far as I can tell that doesn't currently appear to be an option.
I think it's a great idea though - please be sure to use the Send feedback option on the bottom of the Explore tab in the Stadia app on your phone to suggest it!

Wow. This seems to be an oversight.
Me and the whole group I play with have given up. We have created a discord channel and now use our phones with a bluetooth headset for the team chat while we let the game audio play through our TV or computers. It works well. Not ideal but well.
I'm hoping when Google eventually fixes bluetooth in the controller this becomes a feature.
Same here. Have this on my PS4 and am surprised I can't just use and ear bud with microphone for voice chat and continue hearing the game through my surround sound system. Can this be implemented please!
Just bought a mono headset for chat and can't believe there is no option for chat only. Seriously Google sort it out don't ya think???
Did you find a work around?
The only workaround I found is if you play with the same guys and don’t intend to chat with randoms. Me and my friends started a Discord server and just use discord chat.
Is this on the roadmap to be fixed? I want to play games with my friends but I do so I sacrifice my 5.1 setup to a crappy headset. Why on earth can you not split the the voice channel? This is a basis feature of every other gaming platform.
+1 on wanting this.
For what it's worth, my current (complex) workaround involves opening stadia web on my tablet (in desktop mode) connecting headset and using party chat there, then paying games on the TV. It works, along with party featured such as invites, but it's not neat.
