Chat doesn't work with headset

Hi,

I bought Borderlands 3 and I'm trying to use the in-game chat.

I tried 2 headsets:

- Playstation Platinum headset

- Focal Listen wireless

There is no way to connect it by wireless, so I plugged the 3,5" jack on the controller.

Sound works, mic doesn't worked...

For sure, on other devices (e.g. Xbox, PC, Android smartphones, ...) mic works.

Is there any option to set on Stadia or in-game to enable mic?

Thanks for support and sorry for my bad english... :grinning_face_with_sweat:

Make sure it's plugged in all the way until it gives you a good click, the jack is kind of tight.  I've honestly never used voice chat on Stadia so I don't have a story about how any of my headsets work in this regard.

@BinaryJay

Hi there,
time passed but the problem isn't solved...
I tried with other new games (The Division 2 and PUBG), but still no way to use the mic...

My Chromecast Ultra is LAN network connected and Stadia controller is wi-fi connected.
I thought that it is possible that maybe there is a communication issue that allows to transmit sound but no voip...
Do you have any hint? Can you ask about this to the tech support?
Thanks.

I’m on with stadia chat now and they aren’t helpful as of yet to the mic issue.

Same here, tried different headsets and Stadia is unable to recognize the microphone, sadly online play was my primary use and I'll have to get rid of Stadia if chat is not working.

I've tried 2 different headsets that work with PS4 and my phone no problem.  I'm thinking they have a bug.  Yes i've tried to replug the device in multiple times...solid connection.  Still no sound. I hope stadia replies to this.

I have used both my Xbox headset and a set of running headphones with a mic, both worked fine on Destiny 2 on Chromecast and my Chromebook.

Are you plugging your headset into the xbox controller? I'm playing on the PC through Chrome and using my Xbox One controller but I can't get the chat to work.

I had the same problem when playing PUBG. Game audio comes through the headset but mic doesn't work. I was playing with a couple friends (one on Xbox and one on PS4, yay cross-console play!) and they had the same problem when they normally don't have any issues. Even more odd, we could occasionally hear someone speaking when we had a random 4th player on our team.

Go to your Google chrome settings, search for "Mic". Then Go inside "Site Settings". Click "Microphone". Inside it click on the play icon of "stadia.google.com". Select "Microphone " and click "Allow".

If I do this then my mic works, but then I can't hear any in-game sound. So I while the game is ON on stadio, I have to disable the headset mic by clicking "Shift"+"Tab" and disabling it. Why can't both work simultaneously ?

Same issue here.  I'm using the Stadia controller with Chromecast Ultra.  I get game sound, but no mic.  This headset works fine on my phone and my computer.  Any solutions found here?

Have you gone into options and made sure party chat is selected?

For me it works, when I go to the options and switch the voice chat to 'no one right now' and then back to either game or party chat.

Hope this also works for you.

I'm having the same problem.  Tech support was not any help at all.  If I'm using my Chromecast Ultra, it works fine.  If I'm using my Chrome browser on my PC, then it doesn't work.  Same headset and same settings.  And yes, I made sure that the microphone was allowed on the webpage.

I am having the same issue with a cochlear America minimic 2+ accessory using a double ended 3.5mm aux cord (the cord has two black rings on it in the metal plug itself. I have seen some that had 3 black rings on it if I see one somewhere I’ll try that out).  It shows mic enabled in green via notification card in top left if I am on the game select screen. But the second I select destiny 2 it shows a notification about something not related to headset or mic then another notification shows then it says mic is not enabled but you’re connected to game chat in red and I can hear the game but I want to talk on there.
