Can't link to screen

Jump to Best Response

My controller can't link to a screen at least from what the app tells me. My controller knows if I put in a wrong code but if I put in the right linking code then the status light stays white and then shortly after blinks orange. What's going on I'm so fed up with this issue and I can't find anything relating to it

@Milktendo Can you try the troubleshooting steps explained in the following article?

Tips for recovering an unresponsive Stadia Controller

If your Stadia Controller disconnects or won't pair to your display, try the following steps before you turn it off or reset it:

  1. Use a functional charger and USB-C® cable to plug your Stadia Controller into a power source and charge it for 30 minutes.
  2. Hardware reset your Stadia Controller.
  3. With the controller off, hold down the Y button  > press the Stadia button until the controller rumbles and the status light turns on.
  4. Set up your controller on your Wi-Fi network with the Stadia app  on your mobile device.
  5. Turn off any Virtual Private Network (VPN) services you have enabled on your network.
  6. Go into your Wi-Fi router's settings and make sure Access Point (AP) Isolation is disabled. This is also known as "client mode" or "guest mode". For more information, check with your router's manufacturer.
    • Note: AP Isolation is often enabled on public networks in places like hospitals, hotels, student dorms, or corporate networks. This setting can prevent your Stadia Controller and Chromecast from communicating with each other. If you're on a public network, check with your network administrator for more information.
  7. Unplug your Wi-Fi router from a power outlet, then wait at least 30 seconds and plug it back in.
  8. Turn off "Airtime Fairness," "Airtime Quality," or "Multimedia Quality of Service (WMM)," settings on your router. The name of this setting varies depending on your router manufacturer.

Please give it a shot and do let us know whether it works or not.

Hello @Milktendo

Could you try to factory reset it? Turn on your controller and when it is powered on hold the Google Assistant button and the Screen capture button at the same time.

Your controller needs to be setup again by using your mobile and the Stadia app. Also if possible connect the Stadia controller to a 2.4GHz WiFi.

On what kind of device are trying to play Stadia? Browser, phone, Chromecast Ultra?

Oh I should also add that I have already, turned it off and on again, turned it off and let it charge for two hours, factory reset it, and factory reset it and let it charge for an hour

@Milktendo Can you please take a look at the article that I posted above? The article explains a few possible troubleshooting steps on how to pair your controller.

If after trying them all you're still having issues, please contact Stadia support so they can help you troubleshoot further, and maybe even replace the controller if it's defective and the device is still under warranty
