Can't connect Controller to WIFI

Hello, I received the Founder's Edition yesterday. Unfortunately there is no way to connect the controller to the Stadia APP and then to WiFI. These are the steps: 1) connected new Chromecast Ultra to TV, then to Wifi via Google Home APP; 2) turned on the controller (one second pressed): the controller vibrates. First a steady white light, then it starts to flash orange. 3) in the Stadia APP, click on the controller icon (I already have Bluetooth and WiFi on, the smartphone is connected to same wireless network of chromecast ultra). 4) The app searches for the controller but cannot find it. 5) click on the UPDATE button in the lower right corner, the app keeps searching but can't find it again. This everytime i try... What do I have to do? Thanks for the help, if u can!

I had the same issue and there was a help button on the app that clarified further how to do this.

In my case, I had to hold the stadia button again, and retry.

I retried many times. I pushed all the buttons too. On and off the controller many times. Nothing.

I'm afraid there is a bug in my controller...

I had the same problem but after a reset of my router it worked. My other devices had no problems before the reset but it seemed to help.

Exactly the same experience with two different controllers. Will try the network reboot tomorrow...which is later today.

Factory reset on controllers.

Updated router firmware.

Restarted network.

No change...neither controller is found by the app.  Location, network, and Bluetooth are on.  The app has access to all.

I did finally resolve by rebooting my phone.

I had already booted everything else.

I had similar problem before and turn out the Stadia controller needed a firmware update, unfortunately which is only achievable if the controller is connected to wifi.

Solution:  Need 2 phones A and B.

  1.  1.) setup hotspot on A
     2.)  connect B to A's hotspot
3.)  use B's Stadia app to connect the controller to A's hotspot.
4.) once 3 is successful, the app will update the Stadia controller with new software.
5.)  after the software update, turn off A's hotspot and connect B back to ur home WIFI
6.)  wait a bit and the Stadia controller will revert back to blinking orange light and ready to be pair and connect again to your home WIFI, this time it will work since it has the newer firmware.

It did work for me. Hope it helps the others.

This worked for me, with some trouble though.

I had to "Retry" the update 6 times. And after the update, I had to try connecting to my Wi-Fi about 5 times. (I was just about to give up on this method when the controller finally connected on the fifth try. I have no idea why it took 6 and 5 tries respectively. Seems like if it didn't work by the 3rd time, it shouldn't work, but hey, my controller connects now.)
