Audio Clipping Issue on Stadia Controller

Jump to Best Response

Hi,

Every time I plug in headphones, any headphones, all of a sudden the game audio starts to clip and cut off. Not only this but my video stream quality starts to degrade and occasionally I experience disconnects on CCU.

All because I try to plug in headphones into my Stadia controllers 3.5mm jack. I experience this issue on both my CCU and laptop.

I'm not sure what's going on here, but I have a great STEADY connection with an "excellent" signal at all times. The only time I experience this is when headphones are plugged in and when I get into a party chat.

Please help. I've been trying to resolve this for over a week now with no luck.

Problem solved by changing 5ghz signal to the highest channel to avoid interference.

So to recap:

Split ISP's wireless router band into two separate networks (2.4 & 5ghz), if didn't already come that way by default

Disable wireless QOS settings

Set 5ghz band to the HIGHEST possible channel to avoid interference.

The best connection for your wireless stadia controller comes from a 5ghz connection with minimal interference. Check your signal strength using a Wifi analyzer app like Netspot and make sure that you have a strong signal before trying these steps.

If not, I recommend purchasing a Wifi extender to boost the range of your 5ghz network

@JustAnotherDude Likely a network issue. I'm not sure what you can do besides to try and verify whether this happens when you're in a different network environment. Please refer the Reddit post below because other players have experienced the same and the comments point to the cause being network interference.

I can 100% confirm that this is a network related issue as I tested this on my neighbor's network with no such problems.

So it does look to be interference. I went into my router setting and disabled Wireless QOS setting on my Verizon router and it did help some.

However, I am still experiencing some audio, interference, albeit slightly less than before through headphones.

Can any Stadia admins tell me what else I can do on my router to alleviate this issue?

Please keep in my mind that I am connected to a 5ghz network and made sure no other network are interfering with my channel.

@JustAnotherDude Maybe experiment using a different router like the Nest WiFi or Google WiFi incase someone you know has it or you can borrow one temporarily. Also you may have other devices in the house that operate on the same network, something innocuous which could lead to interference, try turning them off one by one and see whether that helps.
