why waste money on a controler?

why would google waste the time and money to reinvent the controller.... just focus on launching the service and get it streaming correctly in a hardwired connection to my PC. i dont want a chrome cast. i dont want another **bleep**ty controller. i spent good money on a proven reliable controller

why the hell does it matter if i use an Xbox, ps4 controller, nintendo controller or any other myriad. of controllers.  use an API and code for direct X inputs

focus your efforts on making the streaming service work... get the latency down. get it running correctly. quit worrying about all that extra **bleep** that too many hipsters with to many handle bar mustaches  like to think about, rather than thinking about putting breaks on their bikes that have too many Starbucks **bleep**ing stickers, and make something worth buying

get with it... you are developing a streaming service for windows use the **bleep**ing hardware thats readily available

Stadia isn't "a streaming service for Windows," but you're still welcome to use one of your existing controllers instead of the one which Google designed to work with the platform:

Personally, I love the freedom that Stadia offers to let me game on a PC, TV via Chromecast, Chromebook, or even mobile phone without really degrading the gaming experience in any way, and having a controller which works across the board is a very appealing part of that to me.

In any case, please feel free to use the Send feedback option inside the Stadia app to share your thoughts with Google and let them know what you think they should focus on.

@sicxind Whether inventing the Stadia controller is waste of time or not, it's debatable. The Stadia actually connects using WiFi when you play on TV through Chromecast rather than bluetooth, in order to reduce latency. So this in itself is already an improvement over bluetooth controllers.

Also keep in mind this is early access, so it's understandable if Google wants to test their technology, which is why I assume the Founders Edition includes the Stadia controller and Chromecast. If you don't want to pay for the controller and Chromecast, you're more than welcome to wait until the base version of Stadia is launched next year.

Stadia Guides are not employed by Google. Opinions are my own.

I’m more than happy to have the controllers. I never liked the PS controllers very much, XBox One controllers are fine, but the Microsoft versions actually feel a bit more clunky than the Stadia controllers.
But that is my opinion and everyone has their own preferences it is a very personal choice as to which controller someone prefers or doesn’t. Same when it comes to a mouse or a keyboard or a joystick or rudder pedals etc.

But I’m happy enough with the new Stadia controllers.

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

Where or when did they say that this was a streaming service FOR WINDOWS? I’m playing on a Mac And I’m **bleep** near sure that if you’re planning on playing on a TV through a Chromecast (again, not Windows) then you have to use the Stadia controller. Although I may be mistaken about that.

Your angry baseless ranting has convinced me! I'm done with Stadia /s... The controller is pretty decent imo, feels comfortable which is what you want really. Don't want it? Don't get it.

Also, this section is about the app not the controller.

You only need the Stadia controller to play on your TV via Chromecast. On PC and on Mobile you can use almost any controller that you can connect via USB. The Stadia controller will have some extra features (when they get everything working) like the mic, and the dedicated assistant button... stuff like that. With that said, as someone who plays on PC using an Xbox One controller most of the time, I actually like the Stadia controller. It has a nice feel to it. It's a little heavy, which I like. Slightly heavier than the Xbox controller. It has a very fine texturing on the bottom half of the controller, so it feels both weighty and secure in the hands. I do wish the sticks were positioned like the Xbox controller, instead of the PlayStation configuration. But it also feels better to me that the PlayStation controller. Xbox has the better configuration, but I'd put this controller second to Xbox, above the PS controller. Anyway, the point is if you're playing on a Windows PC which it sounds like you are, you don't need the controller, and your rant doesn't make sense. The launch was pretty bad, I'll admit that. So many features not ready that it feels rushed. But if they wanted to have a Black Friday sale, and probably Cyber Monday and Christmas sales, then it makes sense that they couldn't afford to wait until the spring to launch. They wouldn't sell much in the spring after everyone just bought new consoles, PCs and games for the holidays. However, this bad launch might hurt them just as much, because the service is not really ready for prime time.

I have to say that the Stadia controller fuses the best of PS4 and Xbox controllers together. I find it incredibly comfy and easy to use. and I've been using it for about an hour a day for the last three days so the batteries pretty good on it too. I just wonder how Google will handle battery issues in 3-4 years time.
